Hey what about we make plant that give meat .it will solve the problem of animal..
@scottkidder9046

Technology is a double edged sword. We’ve invented things for far less noble causes. You’re forgetting that this technology also holds the keys to solving all of these problems too. If germ warfare becomes a thing, then we will fight it with the technology used to create it. As far as animal suffering, that has nothing to do with genetic engineering. That has to do with your morals about animal suffering. As far as messing with the evolution of life, we’ve been doing that since the beginning of civilization. We’ve been selectively breeding plants and animals for centuries, so it’s not new. Should we control natural selection? Should we let nature run it’s course without intervening? The answer is no. If it wasn’t no, then we wouldn’t have a healthcare system and we’d be abandoning the sick and the downtrodden to die. Surviving would be about chance, not about intervention. Anyone who couldn’t compete would die or not be allowed to reproduce. The truth is that with humans at the wheel, there is the opportunity for something better than what there is now. Yes, that does mean there’s the opportunity for something worse as well. But it’s a chance we have to take because we’ll get better at it as we go. We’re simply gaining more control over what happens to us which is a good thing. It’s infinitely better than leaving it to chance. I’d rather my parents choose my genes more than they already did when I was born. I’m sure they would have made me more attractive, more athletic, smarter, more confident in myself, more centered about how I see the world, and less likely to suffer from depression and anxiety. Why would I be mad at them for that? Of course if they didn’t choose that for me, I would’ve been screwed anyway having them as parents, but they aren’t like that. They want the best for me just like every other parent. So yes, humans have been controlling the environment since the beginning of civilization. That’s pretty much what agriculture means. And we do it because it makes life better for us. We don’t have to worry about eating anymore. Now did inventing agriculture increase social divisions? Yes. Did it create an opportunity for people to sabotage crops and cause famines? Yes. Did it make people more egocentric? Yes. But it also fed people reliably, it allowed our experience to move beyond survival and into expression and thought, and it gave us more control over whether we suffered or not. It’s the same with genetic engineering. For the first time, we might actually cure and prevent human diseases. We might be able to end human sickness altogether or at least reduce it to minimal occurrences with known cures. We might be able to end aging. When I think of a better world, those are two major things I think of. Ending human sickness and disease, and ending aging/being able to live life in your prime until you die. That world is much better than the one we live in now. We just need to be careful, that’s all. And that end goal won’t come when the technology is created. It will come at immense cost and much suffering as we work out the problems that come with it and learn to manage them. But when we do, we will have made the world better. Obviously the smoother we can make the transition, the better. But it’s a transition we need to make nonetheless.

well it just show how prosper humanity now. that some so pampered forgot what they enjoy now come from. they have time for morality on animal, denied sacrifice to grow , forgot how civilization comes by. it's ironic the people that should read this explanation is the same type of people that will skip reading long post.

gene editing will be like swords used to be: It will be used for good AND bad, even if and where it gets illegal. And it will be like every brand new technology: In its early years (decades?), affordable only to the super rich. That's usually a bad thing for the majority of mankind. It sux that i cannot buy a Tesla, f.e. In the case of gene editing, it will be way worse. If some can buy super genes for their kids, and the majority cannot, it can snowball pretty quickly. Gattaca style just imagine a talented little football(EU) kid. well, good luck for his career in a world with 200 Messis in his generation

Animals also see, feel and have emotions. I have seen animals cry and smile. Changing their very way to live is not the nicest thing that humans should be doing. We have to think what we are doing. And ask ourselves would we be happy if other do to us, what we were doing to some other being?

But children already have to be born from the genes of the parents. What are they supposed to do, pick between different features from the mother and father? Treatment of animals has nothing to do with genetic engineering, the problem is not enough environmental laws. Vaccines are also often in the GMO category.

Huxleyan Product #7421 reflecting on Mengelean Product #74625: I'll never get to tell them how I saw my own death. Looking down the tunnel from the light into nothingness. I saw them standing by a little café, all closed down and yet it was safe to say hey. I've given them a number to, in part, reflect mine, so that somewhere in the cosmos, we'll one day seek each other and find. In the end, I found myself in a bit of a bind. However, I now know that for eternity, I'll relive that short time. What if we don't die the same way others do? DMT blasts off inside of me and you, and yet it doesn't seem to quite go the same way. We find each other in the midst of life and then forever play. Forever and ever and ever and ever do we forever play.

My thoughts: People shouldn't choose their baby's traits. Sure if they got a disease that runs in family i think they should fix that however i can't trust people changing their babies dna. Hell i have seen people that want to change their child's orientation. For animals, sure if we can create more efficent to produce meats we could help world hunger. However, we also need to regulate and treat it with care. I think the gentic egineering should be illegal to be used in the military. Good video btw!
