Underrated? Why? It’s too easy to use the word underrated when you like something and think more people should be like you. As it happens, I enjoyed the programme very much and still watch the videos that I bought.

I'd forgotten how good this comedy series was , Robert Powell was a revelation in the role I always found it amusing that he played Jesus of Nazareth and then he was in this with Jasper Carrot, hilarious.

The grass is Paul Barber, known for playing Denzil in Only Fools And Horses. I like to think he's playing the same character, making this a crossover. The Detectives also crossed over with The Paradise Club (remember that show?) and Bergerac, so it's quite possibly deliberate.

Rhyming slang was apparently originally used to confuse police who might be listening in to conversations between criminals in old London pubs. First, why e.g. 'horse and cart', and why criminals needed to disguise conversations about farts. And second, it's been several hundred years I think the police are probably savvy by now me old mukka.
