Well said! A long 90 minute timeframe gives me enough time to provide a relaxing Swedish massage with deep tissue techniques. Love using both!!

How bad does deep tissue hurt? I got one 15 years ago when I was 20 years old. It was a cheap massage, so maybe the masseuse was bad, but it was sooo painful, like torture. Then over the next 4 days my back was uncomfortably sore and felt badly bruised. I hated it and have been avoiding deep tissue massages ever since.

@@teeeff8337 It doesn't have to "hurt." People assume massage is a "one massage fix and done." It isn't. Massage can be helpful if it is more regular and with a medium intensity more often, then a high intensity less often. Depends on the problem, too. It depends how experienced you are with getting massage, too. For example, with you given your bad experience, I would prefer to start with a light therapeutic pressure. Let's say you come in with a stiff neck. Instead of a 10 (deepest), I would try a level 4. You have to tell me what your level 4 is. Everyone's feeling and sensation is unique. A combination of mental relaxation, and specific massage techniques to the muscles involved to loosen them up. The nervous system is involved, so if the massage is too deep and you are scared/stressed/uncomfortable ... that muscle is not going to release ... That's why breathing through deeper work, as much as you can handle, can help the nervous system and the muscular system relax together! I would check in with you in 3 days to see "are you bruised, are you cramping, sore, was it relaxing, did you find relief from it..) From there, we can continue a level 4 if that is comfortable for you and your massage goals ... or we can try something new. Ideally, if your neck is still stiff .. I would like to increase to a level 7 pressure and then check in with you again. Everyone's level 7 is different!! People's body's react different. Personally, I can only handle a level 4-6 even for sports massage, because I feel crampy for a few days after deep work and I don't like that! I'd rather get more regular massage, which is more effect anyway than treating ONE massage as the only massage. Every massage is unique and every massage therapist should treat each body as unique and never assume they know. Now if you have a tendonitis, or a trigger point, sometimes the work is going to be very uncomfortable. However, I wouldn't jump in to deep/sports style massage without conversatiosn with you.

i did Deep Tissue Massage (I think) and it was great not the massage it self as it was painful but the results. it solved many muscles problems including improving my posture that I become taller i thought my posture is just my DNA but now I am happy to know that it mostly will get fixed when I visit him again (he was limited in massage by me telling him "no gay allowed") at the end he was a Filipino guy in a massage
