The night attack against the Ottoman camp in June 1462 is probably the best known military operation in the history of the Romanian Lands. Never before has a kings risked more in a war. However, despite contemporary reports, the question remains as to the real purpose of this operation. Did Țepeș really think he could kill the Sultan, the most well-guarded person in Europe? Or was the attack more tactical in the context of the Ottoman invasion? In this video we discuss the possible objectives of this operation that transformed Vlad Țepeș in the eyes of contemporary Christians and his enemies into a hero of the anti-Ottoman struggle.
