List of realistic figures:
- 1448: the conquest of the country during the absence of Vladislav II, followed by the loss of the kingship and flight to Moldavia. No major battle; approx. 100 dead.
- 1451-1453: exile in Transylvania killing of Bogdan II in Moldova. Vlad probably made various raids from Făgăraș against Vladislav II's men. Add various minor clashes with Transylvanian and Vlach opponents. Approx. 200 dead in three years.
- 1454-1456: Vlad becomes vassal of Iancu de Hunedoara who gives him the mission to defend the Transylvanian border. In 1456 Vlad defends the fief of Făgăraș against Vladislav II (who besieges the fortress of Făgăraș), probably undertaking other raids with more and better equipped soldiers than before. Vlad succeeds and is appointed as a kingship by Iancu. About 400 dead in three years.
- 1456: Vlad invades Wallachia, kills Vladislav and becomes voivode. Various battles and massacres take place; about 200 dead.
- 1456: Towards the end of the year he undertakes at least one more raid into Transylvania after Ladislau Hunyadi, son of the deceased Iancu de Hunedoara, comes into conflict with Vlad the Impaler, denying the latter's rights to the Wallachian fiefs in Transylvania. Small struggles in Wallachia to stabilize the power of the prince are probably added. Approx. 200 dead.
- 1457: Vlad raids the region of Sibiu, attacking 3 villages, and another in the region of Brașov. In this year, he apparently massacres the townspeople of Targoviște in revenge for the murder of his brother Mircea. Approx. 400 dead.
- 1458: peace with the Brașovians, but not with the Sibenians, against whom Vlad raids. Apparently, this is the year of the conflict with the boyar Albu. Approx. 400 dead.
- 1459: new raid against the Brașovians, who were probably allied with Albu. Vlad catches and impales merchants from Brașov. Approx. 300 dead.
- 1460: Pretender Dan invades Wallachia with the help of the Brașovians, but suffers a crushing defeat. His supporters are impaled. Approx. 200 dead.
- 1460: raids in the region of Brașov (at least 2 villages completely destroyed), Făgăraș, Sibiului and Amlaș with many casualties. Approx. 500 dead.
- 1461/1462: conflict with Stephen the Great escalated the following year in the battle for the fortress of Chilia. Possibly smaller Wallachian raids in southern Moldavia. Approx. 200 dead.
- 1462: War with the Ottomans: Vlad defeats a small Ottoman army that had tried to capture him, conquers the fortress of Giurgiu and attacks Ottoman territories in Bulgaria where he causes many casualties to the population. Approx. 1,500 dead.
- 1462: More fighting on the Danube with the Ottomans and the Sultan's invasion in June follows. Approx. 1,500 dead.
- 1462: Vlad retreats north into the mountains, but continues, indecisively, to fight against Radu the Handsome, the new voivode installed by the Ottomans. Approx. 200 dead. In November Vlad is arrested by King Matthias Corvinus and forced to remain in Hungary for 12 years.
- 1476: Vlad is again given a military command and fights in Bosnia and Serbia where he kills prisoners, Ottoman soldiers and many of the population in the aftermath of the fighting. Approx. 500 victims killed by Vlach soldiers.
- 1476: In October he defeats Wallachia with heavy losses and conquers Bucharest in November, becoming a voivode for the third time. In December, however, he is surprisingly attacked by his enemies. He dies in the fortress of Bucharest. Approx. 1,000 dead.
Total: 7,800 dead. The approximate number of "civilians" was 3,000, i. e. around 40%.
