I think what really gets to me about this scene is watching Spongebob, a character who is mostly the embodiment of naive optimism, just lying there, accepting his end. It really starts hitting me when Spongebob says, "I don't even think we're going to be able to save ourselves, buddy." Then he even manages to find a positive in the fact that they made it to Shell City. The scene is really well put together, and I honestly don't remember it getting to me as much as a kid as it does now. I mean even though we all know they're going to make it, it's pretty sad to see them forced to accept death like this.

I swear, friendship means everything to you sometimes, and this is a prime example of creators utilizing certain aspects of the scene to hit you in the feels. Even in their last moments they still had the joy of friendship in their hearts and went out singing the song they both loved. This shit hit different when I went to watch it by my friends house.

I think the most beautiful relationships are from being best friends with someone. You know each other and view each other as another component of you. This scene makes me cherish my best friend I've had for so long even more. When I recognize what I really have when I think of him it brings tears to my eyes. I'm so glad he exists. We are there for each other no matter what. And I honestly do see ourselves as SpongeBob and Patrick here if it ever came down to a situation where we die. We will always be with each other even into death.

I remember being 7 years old and watching this scene in the movie theater with my Dad when it first came out and literally crying like a baby and being so embarrassed about it. Watching this scene again as a 23 year old, I can see why I’d cry lol. Still makes me teary eyed to watch this scene, especially when they dry out. To think how far they had come and the monsters they had faced and overcame, just to dry up under a heat lamp in a gift shop.

Trying to not cry at this scene is like trying to jump off a building, and live. SpongeBob and Patrick aren't just friends, they're like brothers. They traveled together, ate together, hanged out together, and now, they'll die together. Even if the two had plot armor, it's so hard not to cry at the two singing the Goofy Goober song for what they thought would be the last time. This is the most emotional scene I've ever watched in forever.

The way how the lighting change, how Squidward is scared, and how Plankton is now a threat is actully really crazy. The scene with Dennis wasnt that bad for me but the scene with bigger boot was. The fact that the guy is just chasing them and after grabbing them if you turn up the vplume while wearing headphones u can hear spongebob and Patrick cry for help, its just sad and way more scary then any Purge movie

This movie was a great movie as a kid. But I feel like now as a grown man. It hits harder, cause now you’re an adult with responsibilities and can’t “be a kid anymore” But I feel like this movie wants us to never stop being a kid in a way. And honestly it’s a great note to leave with your audience.

Yeah. As a kid, you cry because you're watching your childhood heroes die. As an adult, you cry because you're watching two men coming to peace with the fact that they're going out. But at least with a smile.

it's true, as an adult this was really complex to see and think about, those two were alone from the beginning in the movie, and they almost thought what all they did was pointless, until they realized how far actually, they've gotten being just "kids". It hits so hard
