Well done! Sullas generalship against such numbers was impressive!

10:00 In the book "The Poison King" the reason those Athenians came out, to beg Sulla to go easy on Athans, via a history lesson, was because, before that, a more abrasive faction (during the siege) was mocking Sulla for the fact that his face was scared with red blotches, from a sever case of acne, in his past.

Roman History is so fascinating...I started to get into it because of the show Rome... then stopped watching stuff about it until the tv show Spartacus: Blood and Sand.... since then I've been obsessed... there's so many different wars and stories that they could make multiple Game of Thrones style series.... and they should ...from their rise... to the turn into an Empire... to the split from east and west.... to the fall of the west... and then the easts INSANE stories.... it's wild

The thing that got me into roman history was the idea of the city founders having suckled on a wolf's nipples

@@NerdRivera It is possible that the story of Romulus and Remus, like many of the Roman and Greek legends was based in truth. The wolf in particular may have been a prostitute who had found the boys, in Latin 'lupa' means she wolf and was used as slang for a prostitute too

Mithridates is a lot like Epirus and Hannibal. Brilliant men who through bad luck, overestimation, and grit could have been titans but were crushed by Rome's might.

Excellent! I enjoyed this very much! For a fictionalization of this war, read Colleen McCullough’s Masters of Rome series. The Mithradatic wars are covered in The Grass Crown and Fortune’s Favorites. Rightly called “Scholarship in the Guise of a Novel”.
