If I didn’t watch guides on what to do I would be so incredibly lost as a returning player, the game progresses so fast and throws so many features at you idk how a new player could keep up. Familiars, legion, link skills, inner abilities, cubing, star force, crafting, etc it all adds to the grind. The fact that basically every class finishes their tutorial at around level 30-40 (2nd job) and can usually get to 100+ within a couple hours is bonkers to me as someone who played in 2006 and had 1 character get to second job back in the day. It also makes the vast majority of content from 30-200 completely useless aside from a select couple questlines. The grind used to be leveling and the way the world was designed encouraged exploring as much as you could as you were leveling and doing quests which drove you to all the different regions which took time and effort to get to since traveling in the day felt like a real journey. Old Maple was far from perfect but in my opinion there’s never been a game that’s come close to the world building and feeling of adventure that it had. Now, it’s just about teleporting to the most optimal farming spots and grinding levels and mesos for gear to get to the next farming spot. I say all this as someone who just recently got back into the game, and I still genuinely think the game is fun despite all its flaws and to me I’m finally able to try out all the classes and go to all the areas I couldn’t get to back in 2006. The art design, sound design, and soundtrack are still consistently top notch, the skills and diversity between a lot of the classes is impressive, and they have smoothed over some of the rough spots from old Maple. The real problems are the predatory monetization and the prioritization of increasingly complex systems and unnecessary content that makes the new player experience an absolute nightmare. There’s some really simple solutions to make Maplestory more noob friendly, but I seriously doubt Nexon would do them for the pure reason that keeping players confused makes them more likely to spend money in the game. There’s a lot of things that they encourage you to spend money on that you can earn for free, but there’s no way to know that unless you really dig deep or follow guides online, so inevitably that leads to kids and new players spending money on pets, cubes, scrolls, and other things when they’re much more accessible than they make them seem. Apologies for the rant, just kept typing lmao, good video.

To be fair a lot of us old maplers are grown up now. People still miss the exploring and the party quests. A lot of us felt inadequate when we saw people doing pink bean or killing balrogs back in the day. A lot of players want to make real progress and have a better understanding of how to get to that point. Maplestory isn't really built for the casual player anymore. I’d like to add in that even with guides it’s still incredibly hard. With very few new players it’s hard to expect content creators to cater to new players and the problem just gets worse as the trend continues. So many advanced concepts are used in videos that simply go over the head of the uninitiated. Star forcing, Nodes, managing UI elements…Even theme dungeons aren’t apparent to someone who has just never played before. It seems really hard to give fine tuned information about this game when the gap between veteran player and newbie is so damn wide.

This really put to words how I feel about modern MS. I started playing back during the first anniversary and quit shortly after the Big Bang update. I'll come back every once in awhile to see what's new. The game just became so lifeless. I remember playing modern MS with some friends and realizing that we were being punished for trying to play together. Granted, classic MS also discouraged parties at times (EXP split), but I also remember plenty of opportunities where we threw that aside in favor of spending time together. You couldn't tackle a whole map by yourself anyway so why not? The excitement of starting new characters with your friends and helping each other until you reached Victoria Island where you eventually split up and embark on your own personal pilgrimage to get your job advancement, only to reconvene with everyone reborn as something stronger... It felt like you and your friends just went through a training arc in a TV show. Now, you're split up from the start and only meet up to show off your new gear. You're discouraged from partying up. You're discouraged from fighting along side each other. You're discouraged from doing PQs. You're discouraged from even fighting *bosses* with other players. Maplestory went from being a game where the community mattered, to being the most lonely, isolated online game I can think of.

I recently tried playing it again with my boyfriend and i honestly couldn't get into it because of all the forced solo quests to advance anywhere 😢 MS will always have a place in my heart though! @@ilikemycatsfried844 most of which, outside of bosses, are useless. They provide no good rewards for progression/cosmetics/flexing and feel incredibly outdated. Something can be fun, but if the end reward isn't good enough the replay value isn't high for players who intend to progress in the game. Considering all the daily mission time-gates, you're forced to make a choice between doing party content that's completely useless to your character progression or do your 20+ dailies so you can actually get to the fun boss fights the game has to offer. The new player experience is awful and overwhelming, as was mentioned in the video, making it difficult for any REAL casual and social players to get into the game resulting in party content, outside of boss fights, to essentially be dead. The one time we saw a massive resurgence in party quests was when Flames and other high tier rewards (for the time) were added to the Cross World party quest shop. During that event, the game felt somewhat like old maple. People chatting, socializing, enjoying the party quests. Some people trying to speed run for the best time, others using it as an opportunity to be engaged with friends and the game rather than just mindlessly 1 shotting mobs for 10+ hours while watching youtube/netflix. I played pre-BB and the feel is so different now. IDK if I can ever play official or non-reboot servers. I also played vanilla WoW and I think that some of the same problems effecting it effected maple. As many people have pointed out in other videos, players are much more goal oriented now. When I played WoW and Maplestory, end game was something that I don't think many people expected to achieve. It was something you were inspired by and you looked up to people that had made it to end, especially in Maple where the grind was even worse than WoW. Games were seen as giant chat rooms and half the fun was hanging out and meeting new people. People were always "busy" doing stuff in every part of the game, and there were rarely any empty spots because of the slower pace of the game. You always had an opportunity to make a friend. I was an Archer and I ALWAYS had people giving me free arrows and even gold, and that's something that I'll never forget about OG maple. People were very generous with their time and resources. Going to a new zone was like discovering Atlantis or something. At some point, MMO's became less about the social aspect (((THE ENTIRE POINT OF AN MMO BTW))) and more about self-interest and "what can I personally get out of the experience." Sure, there was an element of that in all MMO's, but it was mostly just trolls that no one wanted to be around anyway. I remember when Big Bang came out... It absolutely destroyed this game and its community. I'm sure they're making more money now, but Maple went from being a beloved game that was one of the first (and best) F2P experiences, to being a lesson on how terrible F2P will always be because of greed.

My biggest gripe is how the game encourages solo grinding nowadays. There is a point in the late-game where you will have to select the best grinding spots if you wanna level up faster, and god have mercy on you if you chose to play in a crowded server! People will dispute these spots like mad, going as far as inventing their own sort of "etiquette" as to dictate when a map is rightfully claimed by them or not. Maplestory is the ONLY MMO I know where people will actually do whatever they can to grind monsters alone and shun any sort of help, because in this stupid game, partying up is actually detrimental since EXP is divided among party members with some shitty formula.

After a lot of people starting quitting at 2022, we merged guilds and I only logged on part time to talk smack with other guildies or boss to test my gear progression since that’s mega slow and I refused to buy cubes in CS other than violet cubes. Most of the things you complained about having been removed are either literally still in the game like party play and the economy, or obsolete in a 2022 mmo, like prequests. You complain that the tutorial is too long while lamenting that it levels you too quickly. You complain that the window is too small without just.. changing the window in settings? I'm entirely not sure what you're complaining about with the shadower cruel stab, but if it's the sound, you can turn that off, leaving monster sounds, bgm and voice lines in if you want. If it's the lines, you can change that back to maplestory classic too. Why are you complaining about the number of classes? The game has been out for 18 years. I think the saddest thing about Maplestory 2 was that it was everything that Maplestory players wanted. On release, it had a beautiful, full open world with tons of exploration to do, emergent gameplay, just a chill game to grind mobs in and level up. But we didn't get that version. We got a version from like 2 years after the initial Korean release, by which point they'd solidly done the exact same thing to it that they'd done to Maplestory 1, adding in a long, slow, boring main questline that emphasized solo leveling above all else. Reach cap in about 40 hours of walking around clicking on NPCs and reading text, and then do your weeklies. That's it. That was the game. The huge open map they'd made, all those interesting zones, the PK area with strong endgame mobs to grind, none of it mattered at all. You didn't even need to visit half of the zones in the game, and of the half you did visit, it was usually just to walk through and click on one NPC and instantly gain a level.

No matter how much I wish there could be an official old school Maplestory like there is for Runescape and WoW, I know it wouldn't work out because the game has always been inherently flawed and wouldn't work today. A lot of the things we're nostalgic for would be considered unacceptable by modern standards. The tedious grind that forced us to party with strangers, the lack of easy fast travel that forced you to walk around the world and use transit stations with other people, the need to spam your merch at FM when you couldn't afford a merchant, etc., may have contributed so much to the community aspect of Maple that made it such a magical experience, but they'd all be considered a "lack of QoL" in MMORPGs today, and no one's willing to put up with that. Even with those pre-BB private servers, it's just not the same. The standards for MMOs have changed, the internet has changed, and people have changed.

And the overall vibe of the game takes me back to the early 2000s (like 2000-2004; except Ereve and ToT, because those ones are quite polished looking) even though I only started playing in early 2008 (or at least before pirates came out). One of my favourite things to do is just to hang out with friends and not necessarily focused on doing anything productive. But since I love the maps so much, I would say my favourite aspect of the game is the exploration of the different maps. The wait time when travelling between the regions by ship really made me feel like I was on an adventure. And the music certainly helped create that feeling of adventure. I thought that the world was so beautifully designed. Getting lost in Ellinia and Perion felt surreal. Honestly though, I hated Perion but loved it at the same time because it really felt like being stranded in some boring barren place full of rocks and dangerous predator hogs. And as for Ludi, jumping off that long ladder was so trippy. That entire town is trippy AF, a dream come true for Lego fans. I also enjoyed traveling to Temple of Time. It felt like I was about to meet god or something when I travelled there lol. Of course I had to travel around with my thief account so I could use that "poof" skill or whatever it's called just to avoid taking damage. And the Orbis tower and Ludi towers... was such an adventure. I also really wanted to visit Coke Town and Night Market although they weren't made available in GMS at the time. I also had the BGMs downloaded in mp3 format because liked it so much. I liked the BGMs so much that I made an account to upload BGMs. At the time there were some BGMs missing from this website so I wanted to upload them just so I could share them. I think the most popular upload was the ToT BGM with over 100K views. I haven't logged into that account for a while now.

i don't mind it being a solo grindfest as i don't have time to waste on party quests and stuff like 20 years ago, but the damn game feels like it is on life support, the news aren't loading, i tried the Cadena class and it fails to load a youtube video (seriously?), things are laggy or messy in some way, i will give it a try just for nostalgia sake.

Weird video, cause it’s right and wrong. I don’t think old maple is a better game, but it’s a better social hub if that makes sense. It’s just as in not more grindy than the current. I do very much miss the party aspect, but it’s not like it’s entirely gone. It’s just backloaded, bossing is were the party content is now. Also most players hang around 200+ towns. Or Hene if you wanna chat with randos. As for the new player experience aside from long cutscenes, it’s legitimately wild how easy it is for them to get started if they go in knowing maple is a grind game(it doesn’t hide that, it’s the point). Also Reboot is very very Social oriented(complete solo progression is for the hard cores, 90% of players rely of guilds/party’s to progress) But I’m not gonna say I blame people for feeling this way, old maple was something special and I bet wanting to play that and seeing whatever the hell modern maple is, is jarring as fuck. But I really think Maple is still the exact same grind heavy shit it’s always been just wearing a different coat of paint. And NX should just merge all the reg severs there’s non point in having multiple since 90 percent of folk play in reboot.

Maple was always a grind, that's for sure. While the mechanics are better in the current version, when referring to the game as a whole (the experience) in its relative timeframe, I think the old version is much better than the game is now. Also, new players who are starting to play MapleStory now (regardless of age), are just trying to figure out what's happening. They will most likely spend quite a few hours playing alone before even realizing that guilds are a thing (If they actually make it to that point). Since the map is so large and they're mostly going to where the guide is showing, which are solo farming locations. I tried making the video not too long but I definitely missed some points. I think the best way for me to describe the current MapleStory would be something like this: If I were to tell you that I have a TV show where the first 6 seasons are confusing, long, and brutal but the 7th season is great, would you really start watching that show? I definitely see where you're coming from and I really do appreciate the feedback

@@IsGreed That's because you're looking at it through rose colored glasses. If pre-bb maplestory released today it would flop pretty hard, the unbalance was ridiculous and mechanics were pretty boring. In the early days new players also struggled to know what to do, most ending up at their 2nd or 3rd job advancement. The socialization was better, but that was the same in every game (wow, runescape, etc.) This is coming from someone who's been playing since Broa release, and as nostalgic as I am I can clearly see maplestory as a game has been vastly improved but the mentality of the community shifted.

So to any new players thinking of getting into ms , you have to ask yourself do I like grinding ? Other points the video touched upon are spot on as well, I think you wil be hard pressed to find a more solo oriented game than maple story. Look ma it's me! 2:39 (TobenHasAGun). I play the game very actively and will say. It's absolutely terrible and I would never recommend it to anyone...yet Positive: It has a really fun gameplay loop (I enjoy the zen grind of killing mobs over and over with flashy skills and despite how it feels it's still 50x better than original maplestory even at 250+ unbelievably. You gained about 24% exp an hour at level 68 which is less than you make at 245 on totem.) and it's fun to group up and fight bosses in. (at least the later ones). Being part of two great communities helps a lot too. Also of course it's cute and nostalgic. Negative: Pretty much everything else. There's just too many toxic elements to Maplestory. The arcane force/sacred force system which requires you to do dailies for literal months. Every boss having drops so rare you'll be farming them for months. Then once you get them you have to starforce which is very RNG and you can put about 20 hours of active grinding into it and get literally nothing back or worse a downgrade. The other two upgrade systems are also RNG hellfest (cubing and flaming) and all 3 of them use the same resource mesos so you can't do all 3 (or money on regular server). There's just too many systems in the game that revolve around, "and you will get to use this in 4-8 months conservatively." Even most of the events are simply more dailies/weeklies to pile on your character. It has gotten a lot better with smoother exp curves, breaks in between 'events', more rewards to help you get characters get to fun content faster but it's still not enough. I think the exp is fine, they need to reduce a lot of the toxic systems. Semi-unrelated: I think the issue you feel about socializing in Maplestory is more of an issue of all MMOs unfortunately. Most communications have drifted to guild/discord. So unless you join discord you're essentially cut off of the world which kind of sucks but this issue also happens in other MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV (That said anyone reading this thinking about playing Maplestory should definitely play FFXIV).

when it comes to the content and the presentation i'd say that maplestory is going nutty atm, but the community aspect is certainly stretched thin due to the sheer size of the game and generally unfriendly levels of grinding to get anywhere past lvl 200 causing it to be a little hard to find anybody to talk to and do stuff with i'm level 226 and i already feel like i've sweated when i know that every 10 levels in arcane river requires like way more xp per level than the last so i'm probably still in the baby range

I really appreciate classic Maple because it showed the game as a whole new world that had a lot of hidden finds to it which incorporated a lot of party play that we obviously don’t see in Maple now. However, I think a lot of people are still living in the nostalgia that they would rather go back to classic Maple knowing how horrible the progression was back then. Everyone is so used to getting instant gratification now that if you don’t get to a certain level within 30 mins-1 hour, the game will feel like hell. Especially since majority of the players are in the early-mid 20’s, people need faster progression since we’re not young anymore who didn’t have to worry about adulthood back then 😭 And MapleStory was always P2W even before pre-BB. The introduction of pets was something that many players who weren’t of age to have a card or get those prepaid NX game cards from the drug/convenience stores made it inconvenient not to have one since you always had to loot every single item/meso that dropped from grinding.

Old Maple had its charms, but A LOT of it is nostalgia speaking. I will admit, the client and code for current Maple is dated and needs a fresh tuning but it's functional at least. Reboot world was made the way it is (no merching / trading) because players asked for it like that. They wanted a sense of accomplishment and to make things they acquire feel uniquely theirs, like they earned it. So this is why trading is gone, because players WANTED it to be gone; Nexon just listened. Now, taking 4 hours to level up from level 99 to 100 was not something I'd call fun back then, lol. The slow leveling you crave still exists, it's just in 200+ content now. They've pushed a ton of content beyond 200, party play included. You can still party with people pre-200 by the way, the game even has a ton of "party play fields" that give bonus XP in a party but they didn't kill party play entirely. Even at 101 you can join a guild and get party / social play. It's just a lot of social aspects have moved to Discord nowadays so that's a thing. There's also the other numerous issues of old Maple, from skills being poorly designed (charge based skills all over the place) to skills have horrible hitboxes (old Bandit and Buccaneer...) to even the bosses designs being super outdated (Pink Bean). I think current Maple has really alleviated and fixed a ton of old Maple issues while bringing in new fresh things that bettered the game, from 30+ classes (5 was super restrictive and repetitive after a while), way cooler skill animations (old Aran vs new Aran is night & day.), more satisfying attack and play patterns (no need to grind for hours at a time to acquire ONE single level when I can spend 1 hour and gain 20 - 30+ nowadays pre-200.) old Maple had its place back then, but nowadays people have grown up and have no time for spending 5 hours to gain a level and a half. It's not good design and it's the nostalgia speaking when it comes to that. Maple in 2022 is still a damn good game, just something you'd need to dedicate getting adjusted to compared to old Maple. Wipe away the nostalgia goggles and take in the modern day.

firstly you can skip some of the quest lines after completing them at least once on one character such as the Explorer and Vanishing Journey quests. You no longer have to do certain quest lines on multiple characters such as Silent Crusade for Arkarium (to get dom pendant). *More than 40 classes many of which are new player friendly such as the explorers, cygnus, Jett, Kana, Luminous, AB, Resistance (excluding Blaster due to complexity), etc. A lot of people returned via destiny and the game even got a massive influx of new players. Ignition kept that going as well. Game is more new player friendly than you think, but I can understand certain things may seem convoluted at first. Not everything needs explaining if you just read, and explore the game's theme dungeons so you can get a better grasp of the routines of the game. It's still pretty grindy, and you still have your hene hoes but yeah - the game still offers a lot especially if you play on reboot. Our guild does help new/returning players until they get the hang of the updated content and meta, and in fact, many guilds do. The only downside to this is the level requirement being 101 to even join/make a guild (idk why), but it isn't that difficult to do nowadays. Anyway, just thought I'd share some thoughts.

While there is a huge nostalgic factor about classic maplestory, if you play it today youll realize how bad of a game it really is. One of the first quests you get is to kill 10 shrooms and 10 snails, each one takes about 10 hits to kill. I feel like requiring you to spam your basic attack button TWO HUNDRED times for a single quest at level 2 is much more off-putting for a new player, and most jobs didn't get any mobbing attacking until 3rd job which took forever to get to. While the game is no longer focused on leveling to 200 and is instead focused on leveling from 200 to 300, the long grind is still relatively the same in terms of how fast you gain exp at the higher levels. The community aspect you mentioned i will fully agree with, once geared enough you can solo bosses, and PQs are no longer that great for exp. There is a daily quest that is a PQ but thats about it. There is little value in playing or grinding with others aside from some endgame bosses.

i believe there still is a sense of community within the maplestory today. its no where like it was back in 2009-2012 era but if you find a cool, supporting guild, it can still be a fun game. there was never any pressure to swipe regardless of how hard bosses are. progression is always up to the player. there are some gating aspects to the game like certain content being unlocked at 250,260,265,270 but its not necessary to have fun with the game. it sounds like you had a hard time finding a solid group or guild to play the game with instead of your friend that picked up and dropped the game within the hour because of the “unskippable” tutorial/walkthrough (which are skippable for some classes)

The pqs is the main thing people talk about when it comes to community in the game and honestly it was just bad design cause each server could only allow one party at a time it forced the community to interact to steal spots etc. You cant expect people to just sit there and joke around in maple like before be ayse there are so many other ways to communicate. Some guilds discords have easily 30 people in voice chat just laughing and joking instead of talking in game

Idk what everyone here is talking about. Reboot is more popular than any server ever has been in the games history and that’s a fact and you can check it for sure, in Reboot, on a Saturday afternoon, go to mushroom shrine when someone calls an MVP. Better have a good computer or you’re lagging out, that’s how many people will be crammed in a single map. Don’t even get me started on when destiny first dropped. It was intense. Any map above lvl 210, good luck finding an open channel, infact, reboot was so populated during this new event they had to add 10 extra channels. Can you think of a single time back in “the old maple days” where “there were so many people” where nexon had to ADD channels? No.

I just don’t like the gameplay loop they adopted. Once you’re rushed to level 200 (rushed, relating to most MMO progression times) you grind in map A, then B, then C, etc., and you do daily bosses, u tip you reach the next zone. And then you repeat that recipe for the next zone. Grind on map A, map B, map C, while also doing daily bosses, and then once again reach the next zone. There is so much time spent doing the same exact grinds that it just seems like a waste of time to me.

not to mention how weird bossing is, i'd rather just buy the gear i need instead of waste hours and meso trying to obtain/strengthen it heck, you gotta have someone carry you most of the time in reboot lol i actually enjoyed MS2, i loved the customization and especially the exploration, sort of brought back that feel of playing MS1 for the first time (albeit i only started MapleStory when Phantom first released) i wish i was around for classic maple, i bet Nexon would make mad $$$ if they brought back a classic server too, quite sad :p

> heck, you gotta have someone carry you most of the time in reboot lol You don't, but it does speed up progression so massively that it's generally worth while to be carried. Kobe has an entire series solo progressing on KMS reboot. Which KMS reboot doesn't have totems, akechi/princess no, or gollux gear. And he didn't use guild skills until lomien iirc. Also they wouldn't make much money for a classic maplestory. As an avid OSRS & CWoW fanboy. Maplestory pre-big bang was an alpha game. It was no where near being a complete game. And releasing a "Maplestory Classic" wouldn't result in a *lasting* player boom like OSRS or CWoW did.

Nexon in a nutshell! We’re the same MFer, they did the same to Mabinogi man. I feel your pain, a million uselsss little things to give the game “longevity” but it’s just tedious tasks to waste your time and money. Everything is predatory from Nexon and always has been. Remember DFO? GAME WASNT MAKING MONEY AND THEY CUT IT!

as a maplestory player that still plays semi-regularly i can usually understand a lot of criticisms but this video is ridiculous. it’s clear you didn’t take over a day playing how it is now. opening a video with sfx turned up to the point where they overwhelm even the music and trying to use it as a negative point for the game is ridiculous. i’m pretty sick of people coming into the game playing for one day. making arguments that show their lack of experience. bizarre to me that you treat the game as if it isn’t supposed to age at all when developed for 18 years. yeah, fucking obviously there’s more classes now. it’s one of the main content points and as the game is developed more, more classes are added. take a game like overwatch, would you say that being able to pick from a variety of characters that have different play styles so practically anyone can find something they like is seriously a negative aspect of the game? yes, after completing the storyline to introduce your character, you’re a higher level. the leveling curve has changed greatly over the years and in my opinion for the better. there’s a lot of crucial mechanics in the game such as guilds and bossing that are locked behind a level wall and if the leveling curve was the same as it used to be, it would take days or weeks to reach such a basic part of the game. instead, now that there is a wider variety of bosses that are meant for players in an extremely large range of progression, they are accessible earlier. while reboot is more solo because of the lack of trading, the community is much more prominent because it is a more popular sever with more guilds, discords, and popular maps are usually full around the time new updates drop which is relatively frequent. also, the regular severs have a large market. i don’t know what the fuck you’re on about when you say that you could wait weeks or months for an item to come into circulation because that’s basically a lie. the game wasn’t better gameplay wise back then, and while the experience of big trading makers and pqs is gone the same experience can be had from bossing in a party or talking to others while training. trying to critique a massive game that been developed for over 18 years at this point a 3 minute video while being uneducated on most of the topics is a bad idea .

I play maplestory 2 but never play maplestory 1, once maplestory 2 closed, nexon made gifts for the players who went to ms1 after the closure but my friends from ms2 left after a week because the game was more aggressive in progress, compared to ms2 which was almost giving things away , even ms1 veterans asked ms2 fans not to play the game because of the high farming it has unless you play in rebbot, I never played ms1 and now I realize that I shouldn't do it

Hi Greed, I respect freedom of speech, and this video is a good example of that. Though in my opinion it feels like this video is just another attempt like many others did to discourage new people to try out the game without even trying it because of salty and negative-nostalgic intent. Looking at the references you've put in your video, it shows you've barely even played the game as it is now. Aswell as how the game works in terms of starter settings, you seem to put bar-low effort in trying to make the game playable for yourself, the unstretched screen could be fixed by a simple ''ALT-ENTER'' input. It's unfortunate that you're trying to be malicious to a game that's a whole new game nowadays. It's like playing League of Legends and saying it's shit because it's not like Dota 2. If the game now isn't for you, leave it, these kinds of videos are unneccesary if you're not putting the proper research in it. The only opinion i share with you is the fact that the regular server is extremely ''pay to win''. But Reboot really makes up for it. It's basically an Iron Man mode in runescape, but then as a server. I would love to see your reply. Im always open for discussion and conversation, though i feel like this video is not a serious and/or important issue for you. Cheers! -FriedCats.

@@takejisan808z Exactly. There's certainly a good amount of party play in Maplestory nowadays. (CPQ, Mid/late game bosses and even old PQ's for achievements.) The game was a great social hub before because, we didn't have Discord or Whatsapp. Now Maplestory has become an actual game rather than an enhanced chat box.

I never played the original but I tried maple story 2 because it looked neat and lost interest so fast because of the long intro quests for classes. Didn’t know that was also part of the original. Still wish it had kept going though since the art style was so cute
