Stanisława Imiołek (born 1923) from Rzeszów was arrested on 15 May 1943 along with her parents and brother. The arrest was connected with the activities of her brother - most likely a member of the Home Army. The Gestapo came at night and searched their house. Her brother was beaten and her parents were forced to stand in the yard in a cold weather. Next, they were all subjected to a brutal questioning, during which the Gestapo faked Stanisława’s death to force her brother to confess. After being detained at the Lubomirski Castle in Rzeszów, Stanisława and her mother were sent to the Pustków camp, and later to Ravensbrück, where Stanisława was subjected to pseudo-medical experiments - she was given injections which caused infertility. Her father was sent to Auschwitz, where he died 3 months later. Her brother escaped from prison and was most likely killed by his partisan colleagues. Stanisława and her mother were sent to another camp, where they worked at a factory producing gas masks. In 1945, Stanisława took part in a death march which lasted a dozen or so days. After the liberation, she was sent to the camp in Lübeck, where she met her future husband. At the end of 1945 she returned to Poland by sea - she arrived in Gdynia and then reached Rzeszów.
