The women's Viagra joke was honestly one of the funniest, most well-constructed gags I've ever heard in my life. Joan Rivers was an absolute master of her art. Johnny Knoxville's reaction - where he can only bow down to her greatness - is a very touching tribute.

I was fortunate enough to see her show at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas back in the late 80's. She was actually sick that night and was painful for her to talk. She came out and explained the situation to the audience, apologized and said she'd go on as long as she could. Needless to say Joan was on fire that night. The audience were losing their minds. They were so receptive that Joan ended up doing the entire show and got a standing ovation. A night I'll never forget.

Unfortunately Joan Rivers continued to have critics that often only critiqued her jokes without having an awareness of who she was. Hearing her in interviews and moments other than her act it was obvious she was VERY intelligent, witty and extremely caring and never joked of others with the intent of hurting them. She often used herself as the butt of most of her jokes. Some would hear a joke and immediately react instead of taking the time to consider if it was in fact meant with ill will or very possibly the use of humour as an opportunity to discuss what might otherwise be not be so comfortable. Joan had a joke about the Holocaust, and I recall some overreacting and creating a problem that might have been avoid if there had been some attempt to understand her intentions. Fact is Joan was Jewish, if anyone was going to attempt to create a joke she was one of the few. Yes there will always be moments in history that are extreme tragedies but avoiding discussing them doesn’t perpetuate discussion and awareness but humour will. Joan’s humour was smart and constantly of the time unfortunately many lack the intelligence required to truly appreciate her as the force she was.

And she’s so relaxed, a real maestro, one of them after another. And Catherine one the greats comedians here self, just falling apart laughing.

tomlaud I know, it's amazing the legacy she left behind. She's famous as ever, she definitely made her mark. I would Love to be remembered like that. 100 years after I'm dead and gone nobody will have no clue who I was and she will still be talked about. She was an amazing lady!

She pretty much steals the show and I don't think anyone minds. Her humor is unreal.

Probably never will find another comedian ever that has her quick rapid machine gun fire wit, self deprecating humor, just one of a kind. Never to be duplicated.

Being on the same show and set with Joan Rivers had to have been an absolute delight and nightmare. You could not keep up with her. After the woman's viagra bit, I would have had to leave the set to change my clothes having peed myself on TV. You never see where she is going with any of her bits. She was hugely funny, brilliant, and incredibly smart comic who, if there is a comedy Hall of Fame a wing of the place should bear herr name. She was not just an inspiration to women, but really all comedians. She was and is a comedy legend. I miss her.

I think on a talk show if you made Johnny Knoxville get to where he can’t even talk, you did it..

That gentleman who bowed to Joan, I have so much respect for him. It's refreshing to see such level of humility in front of a true legend
