After 23 years of visiting Thailand, today i finally made it to the Grand Palace, former residence of the Thai Kings and home of the Emerald Buddha.
The obvious way to get to The Grand Palace is by taxi but if you want to avoid being stuck in Bangkok traffic and would like to be a little more adventurous the catch a train on the BTS SIlom line to Saphan Taksin station, from here follow the signs to the Chao Phraya tourist boat, look for the lady holding the sign that says "Orange Flag" and she will point you in the right direction. Once you are on the express boat, get off at Tha Chang pier, from here it is only a short walk to the entrance of The Grand Palace.

There is a dress code that is strictly enforced. For males, no shorts and no singlets. Females must wear a dress below the knees and no bare shoulders.
Opening hours of The Grand Palace are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The entrance fee for The Grand palace is 500 Baht.
The Grand Palace was built in 1782 and for 150 years was the home of Thai Kings. The Thai Royal family has not lived here since 1925, however it is still used for Royal celebrations and Royal ceremonies. On this day there was a Royal ceremony and visitors were not admitted entrance after 12:00 PM.
The main attraction at The Grand Palace for me was Wat Phra Kaew, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha. No video or photos are permitted inside Wat Phra Kaew.
On my way home i visited a friend who lives in Bangkok, before eating Japanese Restaurant named Wagyu Yakiniku Marukya Ito which is located on Sukhumvit Soi 23. I have always wanted to try Japanese Wagyu and this was the perfect time to do so. "Wagyu" is a famous breed of cattle from Japan, famous for it's marbling. The word "Yakiniku" refers to Japanese BBQ. I did not have 1 piece of steak, instead i tried 6 different cuts of Wagyu, including Wagyu tongue. The beef i ate here was some of the best i have tasted. For my side dish i ordered "Kimchi", a Korean dish of salted and fermented vegetables.
