After 40 years of carpentry, my hands and knees were shot, but I started keto and IF four years ago TODAY and the arthritis I HAD in both areas is completely gone! Ten years ago, when I retired, I could barely grasp a cup of coffee and if I kneeled down, I'd have to pull myself up on an end table or whatever. All that inflammation is gone now and it's truly unbelievable! Thanks a lot to Dr. Berg!

Dr. Berg! I have been dealing with pain since 2021. I couldn’t open a bottle of water and had constant pain walking, sitting, standing and sleeping! I’ve had X-rays, MRI’s and physical therapy for my knees and nothing helped. I came across this video and was reminded that I had started taking the One a Day multivitamins for women in 2021. Since before then my blood work always showed slight iron deficiency/anemia. But since taking the multivitamin my last 3 blood tests showed that my levels were normal. (I only eat red meat a few times a year) However, when I was iron deficient I never had knee pain or pain in my hands. Long story long, I stopped taking the One a Day multivitamin a week and a half ago, started drinking more green tea and I AM SO MIND BLOWN!! Within a few days my symptoms improved drastically! Before, I wasn’t able to use any cardio machines and for the first time in over 6 months I could walk on a treadmill. I feel so blessed to have come across this information and I am forever grateful!!! Thank you for sharing. ❤🙏

Hello, Dr Berg. I've lost 150 lbs over the course of one year using your advice when I was in high school. I'm now 30 years old and I'm doing all the same things because I know this works. I've been drinking the kale blueberry smoothie for breakfast, pickles for snacks when I can't make it to the next meal, and a large salad with a piece of chicken breast for dinner. I drink mineral water with my meal and purified bottled water when exercising. For exercise I'm walking my dog 1-2 hours a day after stretching and doing some indoor workouts like crunches and pushups. I'm at the stage where my clothes is starting to fit loosely but no serious weight loss yet, but I feel great!

@@Lbf5677 Yes, but I did it exactly how Dr. Berg explains. I was doing keto with intermittent fasting that eventually got down to OMAD plus intense daily exercise and it takes an extreme toll on your body. It's very important to consume a lot of greens and electrolytes. It starts very slow and snowballs exponentially once your body stops running on sugar and your liver health improves since the liver is connected to so many systems in the body.

keep doing what you’re doing. do not be concerned about your weight. do no weigh yourself. throw your scale in the trash. keep doing what you’re doing. your body will adjust as time passes, and you won’t notice until one day you’ll look in the mirror and you’ll be tone, and muscular…..then a great big smile will form on your face, and it will stay there for the rest of your life. every once in a while someone will like you know just how good you look. you will not notice the improvements because you’ll feel so good. the things that troubled you in the past will disappear and you’ll forget that those things even existed. oh yah, i used to get headaches, or i had sinus problems, things like that. the benefits are so worth it, that it’s worth dedicating yourself to this lifestyle. people that fail are the people that fail to stay the course. this is your life, not just a diet. this is how you live. it’s how you roll. this is you. keep on, and don’t look back. chronic illness is no way to live, so enjoy looking, and feeling great !

Symptoms of iron overload: • Athritis • Fatigue • Abdominal pain • Bronze skin • Liver cirrhosis • Diabetes • Erectile dysfunction • Hypogonadism • Increased infection Excess iron is toxic to the liver, pancreas, and heart. The more the liver is damaged, the more problems you’ll have with iron. Top causes of iron overload: • Taking Tylenol • Consuming a high-carb diet • Consuming molasses • Taking multivitamins • Consuming too much red meat and not enough vegetables • Consuming red meat with sugar or starches . Fiber can help reduce iron overload. Consuming red meat with vegetables high in fiber may be beneficial. Remedies for iron overload: • Phytic acid (inositol hexaphosphate IP6) • Green tea • Cilantro • Quercetin • Donating blood Thank you Dr Berg!!

Dr. Berg - you forgot to mention getting your Ferritin checked. I have Hemochromatosis. I was diagnosed 4 years ago at age 57. My Ferritin at that time was 4580. Yes, that’s correct. I was experiencing night sweats and leg cramps every single night. I had a liver biopsy performed (you’re awake during this) and they found that Iron had caused Fibrosis in my liver. At around the same time they diagnosed me with a severe fatty liver. I was 321lbs at 5’11” and had a waist that was 60” around. I was eating vegetarian and consuming a lot of carbs. I immediately went Keto and I have lost 150lbs. I’m now 171lbs. I have gone through dozens of phlebotomy treatments where they take a pint of blood out of you - first it was weekly, the monthly, and now quarterly. I will require phlebotomy treatments for the rest of my life. My waist is now 34”. Back in April I had Open Heart Surgery to replace a congenitally defective aortic valve that I didn’t know I had until my Blood Pressure went down to 90/40 back in December of 2021. That’s a story for another day. But, I listen to Dr. Berg every morning and just love his products.

I also have it. But a low ferritin. I have H63d type homozygous ( both parents gave me a copy) That causes my iron to continuously circulate in my blood and get deposited into my joints and places. I also have fatty liver but not fibrosis thankfully 🙏 . I'm on a Mediterranean diet and I take chelation supplements. My worst joint pain has been my feet. I can't take aspirin or Nsads because I'm on a anticoagulant for factor 5 Leiden. ( Clotting disorder) And I can't take Tylenol because of my liver. My Dr doesn't recommend me having a phlebotomy because of my ferritin level. The supplements seem to be helping. My iron is still on the high side but within normal range .

@@Edna2u you are right. I know I have flare-ups when I eat sugar, even slow sugars like bread and pasta so I suspect diet is the main cause..

Dr. Berg, can cooking in cast iron pans cause iron overload? I have cooked almost exclusively on cast Iron for years. Could this be the cause of recent joint pain in my hand?

Hello Dr. Berg, I am 20 years young and am going to the gym daily and want to gain weight. Does ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting block my muscle gain?
@barrywilliams4866
2 жыл бұрын
To gain muscle you need to be in a calorie surplus....there is no doubt that right now you're in a deficit, 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day too is a good benchmark to fuel muscle growth...so get this right over a period of time(consistent over months!)and you should grow, however training everyday is not optimal for muscle growth(unless you're on steroids)...you build muscle on rest days so train every OTHER day, get plenty of sleep too.

I have the Asian kind and doctors always no bother it, but my Mom, myself and my Daughters have had the fatigue and headaches through our whole lives. We don’t buy that it’s no big deal. We need to know what we can do to help our quality or lives. Thank you Dr Berg!

Does this mean stopping using iron pans for cooking? Stainless steel only? Also, the molasses is unfortunate. I take a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses occasionally at night before bed. I'm pretty strict keto, OMAD in late afternoon after training, and sometimes 48 hour+ fasting. Daily electrolyte supplements, no multivitamins. Any thoughts? Thanks Dr. Berg. You're my favorite health channel here. Cheers!👍🙂

Dr, my arthritis pain is not in the first knuckle but the second, the one closer to the middle of the finger. I'm 73 and this just started. I started making salsa for chips about 4 years ago and I eat a lot of cilantro and garlic in it. Thanks for any ideas.

Hello doc, thanks for the advice. I have a question. Is there any blood analysis or another procedure which might give us a quantitative indicator of that iron overload?
@maarit986
2 ай бұрын
@igafer Ask your health care provider /doctor to test your Ferritin level (Ferrit) to find out whether your iron is deficit/low/normal or overloaded. It should always be tested before reducing iron from diet, as too low iron causes many bad effects and dis-ease symptoms too.

My brother passed at 34 with it in 1976. Skin turned bronze, hair reddish. Autopsy showed all organs were destroyed. Doctors said it was inherited. 6'2", 250lbs, weighed 130 when he passed. 6 months he had it. Doctors didn't know what was wrong till 30 mins after he passed. So rare back then to be identified. One doctor had seen only one case before.

Your So Right Dr. Berg ! I started to watch this because of a family member with Knee issues, but as soon as you said the Knuckles with pain is caused by to much iron , you RIGHT, that's exactly what I did, I recently increased my iron, almost double the amount from food and supplements, was blaming my job for the pain. Now I know ,Thanks for great info.

Yes, I’ve had anaemia ; upped iron during pregnancy ; no supplements since menopause but still have arthritic fingers . Arthritis is genetic in maternal side of family ....I guess some things r not controllable by diet alone 🙃

Thank you Dr. Berg, u just specified the arthritis in the index finger. I'm not sure if this is bc of supplements that I'm taking, i only take d3, k2, nutritional yeast, started your line of cod liver oil capsul, this one is very relaxing, new Tudka not your line this has some brown rice among the non medicine ingrediants and mct oil on the salad. I started having this pain just after struggling with tools to assemble a book shelve. Do u you think this is still excess iron?
