But Norton was funny. And the other one tried too hard I never thought he was funny.. Never thought the show Seinfeld was funny .. The bet about the small glass of orange juice.. lol . That's the only joke I remember from him. What's the deal with that! Other than that they kind of just make me wonder how they get so famous and Rich my answer they'll always got to be the ones that don't make sense to have money that way we question it and it gives us something to talk about when I like to that boring ourselves! I like an original thought and can appreciate anything these days that I based on somebody else's ideas and that's getting Rarer to find.. each passing day... Peace 12.26.2022 😉

This show was truly ahead of its' time. It pre-dated and semi-depicted 1990s sarcasm with true grit of the times that actually were the edgy un-"Beaverish" 1950s, raw and uncut, east coast style. Also heard a time or two, that this show was the key template for the soon to debut Flintstones cartoon of the times to come. Fred Flintstone inspired by Ralph's character, Wilma from Alice's, Barney from Norton's, and Betty from Trixie's. Just a little trivial fun fact for y'all.

I remember watching these shows when I was a little kid in the 70's they were on Sunday night at 11:30 pm, when we had TV's with rabbit ears and an antenna on the roof strapped to the chimney , great old days back then now I'm in my 50's time goes by so fast

"Har har harty har har" is a phrase that has diffused many arguments. Gleason is still one of the funniest. Thanks for reminding us.

I hope this doesn't sound paranoid, but sometimes I worry when I watch a "Honeymooners" episode that it may be for the last time; in this PC climate, I keep thinking a group of overweight people will protest about the fat jokes and force it to stop being shown.
@janetmccoy2192

Instead of worrying about the PC crowd worry about the greedy people who have taken down most of the episodes. There are 39 episodes that until 3 years ago we could enjoy. Now there are only these 14 left.

I think the domestic violence issues are more worrying. When Ralph threatens to punch Alice and send her to the moon. Even though we know he would never hurt her.

@@carcriticexplained172 I have a book about the show, and it said the reason they got away with that is because the audience knew Ralph was just being a loudmouth and really adored Alice, otherwise it wouldn't have been funny. The same with "I Love Lucy", Ricky would yell and holler in Spanish, but you knew he'd never hit Lucy, no matter how angry he got.

This to me is one of the best sitcoms of all time! Only better is Andy Griffith! It only ran one season! Also plumbing in a multi level building like that would be a nightmare! The rest would be a breeze no ACs in that era no dishwashers...just the plumbing and the boiler for the hot water and the heat!

True comedy is an art. There have not been many real comedic shows. Carol Burnett, Cheers, Sienfield & Frasier were the best timeless comedies.

It might've already been done. All Ralph had to do was increase the water pressure, which he would've done had he not gotten stuck. Maybe after they freed him, he told them about the wheel and they did that right away.

This was my father's favorite TV show of all time! Long after it went off the air, in the 1960s, he would watch The Flintstones, since it was based on The Honeymooners. That was as close as he could get. RIP, Pop.
