On August 8, 2024, a group of distinguished panelists came together at The Henry Ford to discuss the significance of the Jackson House, its place in the Civil Rights Movement and its future in Greenfield Village. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the following panelists for lending their time and expertise:
- Jawana Jackson, daughter of Dr. Sullivan and Richie Jean Sherrod Jackson
- Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, distinguished professor of African American and Diaspora Studies at Vanderbilt University
- Jonathan Eig, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "King: A Life"
- Nelson George, filmmaker and author of "Where Did Our Love Go?: The Rise and Fall of the Motown Sound"
We are also grateful to our moderator, CNN political commentator and former White House official Jamal Simmons, and the event's sponsor, Ford Philanthropy. Finally, we appreciate each and every attendee for their interest in the Jackson House and for joining The Henry Ford on the journey to the home's 2026 opening in Greenfield Village.
