I remember when I first saw this I thought it was hilarious. Now whenever I go to a sushi restaurant I have to Karate chop my chopsticks in half.

I'm reminded of the bit from Azumanga Daioh where Osaka split wooden chopsticks perfectly hundreds of times before a test for good luck!

@@danedgar1539 My dad couldn't use chopsticks to save his life. I took him out to sushi at my then-favorite place and he kept flinging food everywhere trying. I told him to eat the sushi with his fingers like you're traditionally supposed to, but he was like, "I don't eat with my hands like a savage!" He demanded that I ask them for a fork, and I said, "Dad, how the hell are you going to skewer sushi with a fork without it falling apart?" Finally I had a bright idea: I said to my favorite waitress, "My dad is having problems here. Do you have any children's training chopsticks?" She and I laughed our asses off and she came back with two chopsticks tied together at the top with a rubber band. It works like tongs and it worked like a charm for my dad! 😂

Probably cuz the sticks are chopped in a sense that they are initially attached to one another as if they're one stick.
