This is defintly classic track for what it is. Even though its a not a "Trance" track, it definlty has the Trance vibe to it. Tracks like this are what imo are the blueprints for what Trance was to become, been and still should be and that is hypnotic, and of course good. Trance will never be as good as it once was, but if DJ's & Producers go back and do thier hw, and listen to tracks like this, Trance might still have a chance of being good again.

This is house trance, which back in 88, 89 and some of 90 was the only trance around. House trance really meant deeper, more hypnotic house music, perfectly demonstrated by the KLF's first hit, the original version of "What Time is Love?" (which is known as the "Deep Trance" mix because of the EP it appeared on) and other KLF tracks like this classic. House trance was usually more techno based but didn't have to be techno house. Then in around 1990 a completely different genre developed from tracks the year's before which were somewhere between house music and Hi-Nrg - electro - Euro beat club music, such as Binary Finary's "1999" from 89. The new sound was more sparse, more free form and, also like a lot of house music, more repetitive than most Hi-Nrg - Electro - Euro beat club music, but it was becoming clear this wasn't the same as house music. By late 1990 this development spawned the new genre which was becoming referred to as "trance". Essentially it turned into a separate genre very quickly for a lot of people who didn't really like the house music scene much, in terms of house music itself, but liked the idea of it, liked the idea of out-of-your-head hypnotic or energy giving drugs and hours on end in a dark space "having experiences". This was the new trance movement and by the end of 1990 myself and other house fans who had been going for years were very sure it really wasn't house music at all. It was a completely different scene, sponsored by people like Paul Oakenfold (which surprised us as he was origin a classic, underground house genius) and Paul van Dyke. The odd new trance track, although probably not exactly house music, chimed with the house scene and got included such as "Age of Love", remembering that the house scene in the UK particularly was founded on broadening perspectives in music and included 60s and 70s stuff and folk music. So by 1991 new trance was real taking on as more or less a separate scene in its own right to the house music scene and it had become clear that we in the house music scene could no longer use the term "trance" to describe parts of house music. By 1991, usually, trance music house music at all. The new trance, as history shows, became very, very popular but mostly with a different crowd to the people who had loved house music. It's a bit sad that this other scene kidnapped the word "trance" when it was originally a term from house music.

Yep, was the b-side, and oh, how good this b-side was :) This sound pretty much sums up the sound and feel of the rave scene kicking off bigtime back then. This used to pump out my mates 6x9 woofers in his car an awful lot.... And when you heard it banging out of an 'illegal' warehouse rave it kinda sounded magical. Sends chills up my spine... Wicked toon!

This is a beautiful creation that only truly existed in the time it was created, but thanks to tech, we can enjoy eternally. I'm very happy to hear this. It really sums up our modern roots or electronic music. So damn beautiful, with the slow build to allow you to hear the few sounds it takes in creating this song, similar to seeing the guts of an apple: seed, core, flesh, skin/color.

@777cata this is trancey, I'll concede that to you. Who gives a fuck what it is? It's a tune! The KLF didn't conciously sit down and say 'I know! Let's make a trance record!' They just made a top trancey house tune that sounded fantastic through a massive sound system and that was also designed to sound brilliant on E or acid.

There are some decent tracks from 2008 and after that were never big, but still good, and there also some good Electro-ish Trance tracks out there too. But theres need to be a change the DJ's and producers who stop making music, should come back and they might help get things going. Minimal techno is really good, its like its like it took its place, but in a good way, and now its time for Trance to get back to rocking da crowds.

@777cata no mate I haven't. I've only been into it since its early days in 1988. I know nothing. I didn't have clue abut it when I was stood on a podium in the Hacienda in 88, or on the middle of a sweaty dancefloor in the thunderdome ond konspiracy in 89 or 90, listening to a young dj called sasha warming up for Mike Pickering. I'm clueless!

That you come out with a comment like that shows how clueless you are on dance music. Trance is a subgenre, springing largely out of the German techno scene and the acid house scene, both of which are 'dance' music styles... as is trance. Sick of hearing people use the terms 'dance and trance' like they are completely separate genres of music. Trance is a style of electronic dance music.

lolol trance heads are funny. this isnt trance music, even though it's got 'trance' in the title. It's just proper dance music using technology...genres are for mugs: good music is good music...Lil louis' French Kiss is more 'trancier' than this, but again, it was just dance music using technology. People arguing about genres is pointless. You're probably American, so we'll take that into consideration
