Humanities New York (HNY) and the Correctional Association of New York (CANY) present a conversation with historian Heather Ann Thompson, author of Blood in the Water, the Pulitzer-prize winning history of the 1971 Attica Prison uprising and its lasting impact. Thompson's book, the definitive examination of this turbulent moment in New York history, is also an excellent prompt for encouraging sober-minded thinking about the ripple effect of incarceration in American society. Thompson will speak with Martha King, CANY board member; Tyrrell Muhammad, CANY Monitoring Associate; and Jose Saldana, Director, Release Aging People in Prison Campaign.
This event was held on September 10th, 2019 at the Weeksville Heritage Center.
