This was a truly traumatizing experience live. It was like being trapped in your own body, paralyzed, trying to scream to no avail. 7:39 Jerma confirms what I've suspected for years, Jerma doesn't actually read real comments when referencing chat. He's literally just having a conversation with himself. The Korok forest took like an actual hour and the worst part is that he got RIGHT NEXT TO THE ENTRANCE like THREE TIMES which you can CLEARLY SEE ON THE MINIMAP by just pure luck (because he was there for an hour) and he would somehow turn around or go the wrong way at the last second every single time. One of them is at 38:13 when he got to the hill left of the entrance and for some god forsaken reason climbed on top of it. He got to that same hill like 2 more times and turned left both times back into the woods.

@gummy3584

I hate how everytime an open world game is released everyone's like "it's so empty, walking simulator XD" like why are you complaining about an *open world* game having an open landscape, that's the entire point, if you condensed all of the points of interest into one area that shit just feels like a generic Ubisoft world

@MonkeGeorge

@@gummy3584 Well the point clearly flew over your head then, because I'm saying big maps do not = good game... BOTW compared to lets say Elden ring, has alot of emptiness to the environment. I'm sure the more simplistic art style doesn't help, because it makes a lot of areas feel "samey". I don't know what the hell you're talking about saying "every open world game" getting released get's the same label. Red Dead 2, Skyrim, Witcher, Dragon Age, the Batman Arkham games, etc. These are games that were acclaimed both critically and by audiences for having worlds that are "fuller". Other flaws to be sure, but that's not the content of this analysis. So yes, a metric that many open world games are assessed by is the density of content within a given area. Large swaths of low res landscape to explore with little to nothing scattered about, does not make a favorable experience for many gamers. I think perhaps the only reason you'd disagree with it is because a game you like was judged poorly by this metric and you felt the need to get defensive for it.
@gummy3584
Жыл бұрын
@@MonkeGeorge nah I completely get what you said, I'm just saying your description of what botw is like feels incredibly inaccurate and inexperienced, looking at the vast majority of critiques for the game very few describe the world as empty and uninteresting as you have, I mean this is one of the highest rated games of all time on metacritic and what many people bring up when they talk about re-defining the open world genre, the entire reason the game did so well is it's world, not it's combat, not it's dungeons, not it's graphics. Hell even elden ring I've seen get more flak for having an "empty" world, and saying that botw's world is just 'swaths of low Res landscapes' is just straight up a bad take dude. I'm not saying you definitely haven't played the game at all but if you have you certainly haven't tried to engage with it in a meaningful way, not once was there a point throughout my playthrough where I simply felt like I was travelling distance to get somewhere, there was always something intriguing me in the distance and making me wonder what could be there or what might happen. There's a lot of things you can critique about the game that I'd agree with, the world and exploration is not one of them.
@MonkeGeorge
Жыл бұрын
@@gummy3584 It's literally known for being on the more empty side as far as the ratio of landscape compared to dynamic interactions and variable content... Things like the occasional repetitious Camps, Plants, and Mini bosses are exactly the thing that the Ubisoft games you mentioned are so guilty of. The major difference being the art style and lack of annoying quest markers / objectives on your screen. Doesn't mean it's not guilty of the same base formula... The thing that redeems it are it's puzzles and storyline, since that's more core to the franchise anyway. Open worlds are not something Zelda had experience with, so the game was a bit of an experiment in that sense. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but i do believe it's not even close to a prime example of a good open world map.
