Out of the past was one of the most breathtaking episodes in Korra mainly because some believed Tarrlok was Amon in disguise and that theory was debunked but then we get to see Amons power to resist blood bending and that raises even more questions.
@LoganH0076
8 ай бұрын
I’d been looking forward to seeing your reaction to that scene with Tarlok and Amon with the blood bending haha. It’s one of those scenes that makes you really start thinking “ok but for real. Who IS this guy?!” Being able to shake off blood bending is just such a showing of power, and that combined with the ability to take away people’s bending just does a great job of making the viewer start asking those questions
@pabloc8808
8 ай бұрын
Combine that with Amon's "I am the solution" (courtesy of Spike Spiegel himself, the legendary Steve Blum) and you have a truly terrifying villain. And it's a nice touch that he doesn't shake off Tarrlok's bloodbending effortlessly, he's clearly struggling a little bit, but that just makes it more interesting: is he a bloodbender as well, struggling to maintain control? Is he just that determined, and has achieved a higher level of control over his own body? Is he a cyborg, and therefore bloodbending doesn't work as well on him? Is he in touch with some kind of spiritual power we're not aware of?

Knowledge is power and once it spreads something “extraordinary” becomes “ordinary”. Lightning bending and Metal bending becoming semi-common practice seemed completely normal to me, especially since Zuko opened up the hidden Fire Family archives to the public and Toph started her metal bending school. We saw it in our universe during the Industrial Revolution.
@kateorgera5907

@barroslucasc
8 ай бұрын
Katara also did moves like that on ATLA. And about keeping it oxygenated, I think it's just a matter of how much oxygen that bubble has when it's formed. They probably can't be in them indefinitely. Either way, neither shows never bother to mention this limitation anyway, so who knows xD
@thehikingviking2049
8 ай бұрын
@@barroslucasc They actually do kind of address it when talking about the submarines in ATLA. I believe they have an hour of air before needing to resurface? I assume that the water-air bubble is only for short term travel, and resurfacing happens off screen. A brief googlin' revealed that a defective diving bell (i.e. one that can't cycle in fresh air) with a diameter of 2.4 meters has enough oxygen to last for 6 hours before noticeable symptoms of low oxygen become apparent, and 13 hours before unconsciousness. Now, I'm no mathemagician, but I know that the bubbles formed by benders are not usually 2.4 meters wide, and they frequently encapsulate more than one person, but I think it is reasonable to assume that they can last for quite a while before needing to be replenished.

Showing up at a certain place on a certain day is easy (aside from the whole war aspect at the time, that isn't a personal roadblock but an environmental one). It would have been foolish for the White Lotus and Korra to not TRY on solstices given that there isn't a global war going on and it only HAD to be Roku's temple to talk to Roku. Don't forget, he accidentally stumbled into the spirit world the first time by chasing Hei Bai. She's correct in assessing that spirit stuff came easy to Aang compared to Korra. Was it easy, not necessarily, but compared to Korra... that's the context here. Aang had a much easier time of it than Korra did. Even when Korra succeeds from meditation, she gets fragments, Aang went hopping around in the spirit world.

A cute theory/fact is with Tenzin naming his Sky Bison Oogie. In one of the post show comics Sokka refers to Aang and Kataras affectionate relationship as Oogie. So the theory for some is if Sokka continued to describe their relationship as Oogie as they got older Tenzin probably overheard him describing their relationship this way so he ends up naming his animal companion for life after the term that represents the love shared between his parents.

When you think about it Aang did get to see his grandchildren through Korra. The last lives live on through the current Avatar so every time Korra connects with Aang and Aang here he experiences what she does.

Lin is a rock solid badass and giving up her bending without a sound beyond essentially telling Amon to kiss her ass is one of a half-dozen or so moments in this series where Lin's nature is shown. She is a powerful, vulnerable, broken, iron-hard hero and she demonstrates it over and over.

I KNEW these were gonna be some big tear bending episodes for you. I can't wait for you to get further along in this series. It's SO GOOD. Unlike most reaction youtubers, you actually deeply empathize with characters, take time to reflect, and genuinely love the stories you watch. It REALLY shows with avatar. I'm gonna be on this journey with you the whole way.

19:00 "We have an important judgement to make but first, let me tell you about my awesome boomerang skills." So let's see. Lin travels around like Spider-Man, gets dressed like Iron Man, and can tear things up like Wolverine. She's basically half the MCU, all on her own. I'm waiting for her to pick up a shield and/or hammer.

About the love triangle. The creators once mentioned in an interview that they really love cheesy teen drama and messy love stories (they apparently grew up with them), but "unfortunately " couldn't include it in A:tla, so LoK was the perfect opportunity for them to have "fun" with the concept and they just couldn't skip it.

THE LOVE TRIANGLE I think the love triangle is really well done. I have all the context which helps haha. I think it's really important and shows that feelings don't just go away when shit happens. These are teenagers. Also, Asami only brings it up at the air temple when things have settled. It doesn't get in the way of any actions as a group. The rest of the time she is just holding it in. I think it is written with an understanding of these types of emotions but also doesn't depict the characters as emotionally illiterate for the sake of drams. Its exploring real people and real human emotions. It made me laugh you called it stupid but I urge you to reflect on it - as the episodes pass and the show develops. Many people hate love triangles in a show like this however I think they are realistic and demonstrate human fallibility. Just my perspective :) ---- Milo is my spirit animal hahah Fart bending is amazing haha

The presuming theory on lightning bending is that it was a "royal family secret", potentially by propaganda, until after Zuko became fire lord. So now very skilled firebenders, like Mako, have been trained to use lightning.

The love triangle is indeed the weakest part of the series. It isn't even all that bad or the characters are too annoying or anything like that. It's just that everything else is so good that the triangle feels jarring. Personally, I don't hold it all that much against the series, it has a lot more going on for it and, the best of all, it improves immensely later anyway, so I consider it "growing pains".

In regards to certain bending abilities being more common, you need to keep in mind that the first series takes place after a hundred years of war. If a master dies or is captured they can no longer pass on their knowledge. Multiply this by a hundred years and it makes sense there would be so few benders who understood these specialties .

That's the thing I love about this show is that they don't know how to fight against air bending so they don't have any defenses or tech to fight against air bending, because it's so rare of a element now 35:24

“I really don’t care about this right now.” Yep. God I hate this love triangle so much. Although, I will admit it’s refreshing that Asami’s not mad at Korra. Lin truly is too good for all this.

I love your theory about why Tenzin might have chosen Pema and duty to the air nation. It is tough to picture Lin putting aside her personal ambitions of living up to Toph's expectations versus rebuilding the air nation.
