"The Magic Word"
The day the ancient magic broke,
I did not wonder why.
The things you did, the word you spoke,
At first I took it as a joke
Before it broke the sky.
Who knew the force of just a word
Could make the sun depart.
It touched the ear but was not heard
It hit so hard, no heart was stirred
Until things fell apart.
And when the mountains trembled
We’d built to last all time
I asked, and you dissembled,
And and not at all resembled
The soul I thought loved mine
The earth beneath me crumbled,
What was gave a final sigh,
Forever took a step, and stumbled,
Straight to hell the heavens tumbled,
The day you said "goodbye."
