I was in Herbalife about 35 years ago, got out only losing about $200. My first warning sign was when my upline told me to never try to answer any nutrition questions and to just say: "I'm not a nutritionist, so I can't answer, all I know is I feel GREAT!" This diversionary bs seemed just wrong to me. Then very quickly my upline wanted me to just buy, buy, buy inventory. My house got robbed and cash was taken, but all the HL product remained, that's when I got out.

I was in Herbalife for 2 years, some of the intro clips are from Extravaganza in Houston back in 2018? 2019? I was there! We drove 48 hrs total because we were told by our uplines and basically everyone in the company that this was a life changing event, and that we must go if we really wanted to see our business skyrocket. Long story short... we lost way over $15k Looking forward for a future Amway video? 🙏🏻

Everyone on my upline's team acted like I was missing the coming of Jesus. 😂 It's nothing but a big event to hype you up and keep you in their scheme. 👎🏾

I noticed a lot of them open their wallets (inadvertently, of course) and have a quick flick through their $100 notes, making sure you see. Great way to lose friends. I think everyone tries one MLM as a rite of passage and growing up but most of us come to our senses pretty quickly and see they're all set up the same, doesn't matter what the product is. This is where we learn "if itsounds too good to be true then..." 😉

If any mlm product really sold big the company involved would not need to chase more and more retail sellers. If you could make big money selling the product, the company would be limiting the number of sellers. The truth is that they need more and more sellers because a) they know each one will only sell a small amount and therefore b) they can force all the thousands of retail sellers to buy inventory even though they know they won’t sell. The sellers really are the customers

I and my husband were involved in Amway before I even knew what an MLM was. We had to pay $250 per ticket for the yearly seminar and we were expected to dress "expensive". There were so many rules and regulations they pushed through shame. The biggest red flag was when our uplines told us to print off all of our banking history so they could tell us what we were wasting our money on and keep it "under control". We lost so much money and started the fights that caused separation and almost divorce.

I still consider my upline as friends. Out of all the people that were in it, I think they were one of the realest. Was positive about the "opportunity" but had a level of authenticity. I don't know if they're still doing the business. They moved to Europe

One of their “Nutrition Clubs” just opened about 6 months ago in our town. A girl at one of our local radio stations did a bunch of social media posts explaining that they were an MLM and how they didn’t even disclose that it was Herbalife products in the shakes they make. I know so many people that were super into this place when it opened and took their kids there. I will never support them or their product. The whole idea makes me sick.

I don’t support MLMs…but remember that the people who run those shops are victims too. My husbands mom recently opened one (before we realized what it was) and she would be devastated if she realized what MLMs really are and the victims they produce. They took out a huge business loan to start the “business”, so all I’m saying is, remember they are likely very good people who are victims too and deserve kindness and respect. That doesn’t mean you need to spend your money there, and while I agree with promoting not joining their “opportunity” to your friends, please don’t wish ruin on actual, real people. They’re not bad people…they’re victims who have been sold the dream.

The thing with all these people you see at the top, they don’t just do the MLM, they have other jobs that pay them their luxury. All they do in the MLM is recruit. That’s all. No work no nothing. As long as those in the bottom are doing the recruiting, they go to their other full time jobs and get paid that way. I went to a WorldVentures “Meeting” and one keynote speaker stated that she owned 7 companies. Like she is able to travel because she has 7 streams of income not because of WV, I wanted to open people’s eyes so much but it’s hard to open people’s eyes when they have been brainwashed for so long. I love watching content like this, which makes you think. I love it when I can dissect something and analyze it. Bravo girl 👏🏼👏🏼✨

Thanks for watching! Though I would say that has not been my perception from the top, and after talking with many other top people from other MLM companies, too. We all worked extremely hard, were always exhausted, and had no time for anything else. I think the woman you mentioned is the exception, because most top people don't have time for other businesses (unless the a're slowly and secretly trying to transition out of the MLM industry but want to keep their residual income as long as possible). Everyone in an MLM - from the top to the bottom - has to constantly be recruiting because they're basically building a house of cards. 🙈 Everything collapses so easily.

@notthegoodgirl

Because the sole purpose isn't health, Shaun... There's an *ulterior* *motive* which is recruitment. Any distributor who says different is lying, or hasn't been in long enough to understand the majority of income that one can make a living from, is made through recruitment. Any distributor who opens an Herbalife "nutrition club" will not be able to affordably sustain it based on sales of Herbalife product alone, especially when they only earn a small percentage from said product... Which is why most of the clubs close down and ex-distributors leave deep in debt.

About 12 or so years ago, me and 2 girlfriends where taking classes at a hole in the wall studio. The classes where a combo of zumba with cardio using weights. One time, a new teacher came and said to us after 2 weeks of teaching there that she can help us with weight loss etc. She said to come talk to her after class. I and a few others did go talk to her and come to find out that in order to work with her outside of class, we would have to buy Herbalife products. Also there was an elderly lady selling juices that she made at this studio. She made them to order, but she was replaced with Herbalife. I never signed up to the MLM and soon after left cuz I did not want to drink the Herbalife koolade.

I was an Quixtar(Amway) person in 2000. Amway rebranded for the e-commerce times, which failed to stick. BWW or Britt World Wide was my group and the 9.50 a week standing order cds were what they pushed so hard! Glad I saw the light

My parents' friends fell hard for Quixtar and tried to recruit them (fortunately my stepdad is a critical thinker and said no). 😂 Their friends (and their entire families with teenage kids) even moved cities to be near their sponsor. It didn't go well and they left about 4 years later. 😢 Glad you got out!

@@notthegoodgirl I was a supportive girlfriend at the time but so glad it was only about 3 years or so of madness. I missed my grandparents 50th anniversary for the big conference in Portland. Such a dumb decision 😔

I'm so sorry! 😭 Most people have major regrets from being in an MLM (I have sooo many); it's sad how they indoctrinate others to put the company over friends and family.

Knowing what I know now about where the money for the tapes/CDs/events goes makes me feel gross. When my parents were in Amway they had shelves and shelves of tapes and CDs. So did many people we knew. All of it in the garbage now. What an absolute waste.

Awesome Interview as usual. I’ve listened to Doug Brooks on other channels/podcasts and with his knowledge it gave me courage to report my experience with an MLM to the FTC. Now I need to write a letter to the AG! Thanks for all that you do to bring education and awareness about these predatory companies. I would be interested to see you do a video on Market America. ✌🏻

I think that's a really good fact for you to publicize, one of the things Mr. Brooks points out, that with the technique of suing distribution systems, that the more successful you become the more legally liable you become for your actions as an MLM. What was your reaction when you heard that, and did it make you feel like maybe you had dodged a bullet?
@notthegoodgirl
2 жыл бұрын
@Nerys Ghemor while I was still in, I began to notice several top ranking members get tangled in lawsuits with their MLM company (usually when they would leave to go to a different company and their large team would follow), or over monetary disagreements, etc. I saw so much ugliness; it definitely scared me and was one of the things that began to open my eyes. These companies claim to "love" and "cherish" their distributors and call them family, but the minute a distributor exhibits free will, the company turns on them like a hungry lion let out of a cage. Scary! Very glad to be out. :)

And to get your friend those pearls, you will be encouraged to spend 5,000 in inventory, and your upline will be right there to give you a certain percent off of another 5,000 worth. Yep, it happened to me.
