One of my favorite thing about this album is that it's based on the memory of a friend of mars volta who committed suicide, and still it has so much life celebration in it. It's joy, pain, melancholy, dance, laughter, tears, love, hate and everything just melted into each other until you can't tell what is what. The most alive music I've ever heard, and it balances on the brink of chaos. Like life itself.

this band is worthy of being compared to led zeppelin and pink floyd. they just came out at the wrong point in time where people like stupid music and bad live performance. this band would've been huge in the days of floyd. it's a shame really how underrated they are and their live performances are even better than the studio albums. it's usually the opposite nowadays, bands are good on albums and suck live.

I don't disagree, but I don't think you're completely right... TMV aren't underrated at all, so much as little known, which is a damn shame. And few very successful bands these days are awful live and get away with it... In fact musician's tend to focus on live performance more these days in many cases because money isn't made from album sales. TMV are incredible, but things aren't as drastically different between now and then when it comes to demand and expectation.
@dreat5665

They didn't come at the wrong time ffs. The band is regarded as one of the most important acts of this century just look at the people that have admiration for their music, artists such as Neil Peart, Steven Wilson, James Hetfield, Mike Portnoy. The problem is the public. You have to understand that there's two kind of people. Those who listen to the same 5 bands from the last century and those who explore all the decades. tl;dr: fuck normies
