It is a diatonic with the option to LOWER the blow notes by using the slider. The draw ebnding notes additionally are lowered with th slide pressed due to the fact that the blow reeds produce the bent notes and these are slowed down by the magnets.

Using the slider you can lower the pitch of the unbent blow notes - if you play a draw bending and press the slider the note produced is lower than the usual bending note.

I have Brendans own brand powerdraw harps in A,D,and G and regularly use them for our blues band. Once you get used to the layout they are great for adding expression into my solos and I find the "A" especially useful for playing "Train Kept a Rollin" by the Yardbirds.

You can order a half-valved stainless steel reeded model in our configurator already - the turbo slide-system is Jim Antakis idea - so best would be to contact him via turboharp and order a PowerBender Half-valved with the turbo-slide system. BTW on a regular Richter the Turboslide also helps to play overblows (on non-valved Richter harps) because the slider covers the blow reeds like on the old Bahnson slider models.

I've got one.. it's hard as hell to play, but you can do some cool bends even lower than normal. They can add a cool whammy effect as well on the bends. But playing it chromatically requires a lot of embouchure work. I would try making or buying a regular powerbender first if you are curious about it. And he makes it look easy.. I would only recommend it if you've been playing a few years or more. They require some tweaking. But you can do some pretty sweet stuff!!

So many complications, instead of using chromatic harp? I suppose, it is because of the unique diatonic harp sound still? But which somewhat disappears with chromatic attack on it.
@Muzikman127

Bending expressiveness and chordal playing are a consideration as well at the sound. A diatonic can do a lot of things a chromatic can't, but is also in many ways a more limited instrument. Some of these additions are a way of not losing what you lose moving to a chromatic, but gaining some more notes.

Hi Brendan. I do have an old Hohner Preciosa harmonica tremolo style (16 × 2 rows = 32 holes) in key "C" given to me as a gift over 30 years ago which sounds amazing to me. I play it just few times and I'm not expert at all, but I love the sound and chords it produces. I recently bought a Hohner Echo 32 (tremolo) also in key "C" but I'm disappointed with the purchase because it sounds like half or even one octave lower (the Preciosa is "brighter") and it needs more air to get sound from it, making it more tyring to play. Since I started watching your videos with Suzuki harps, I decided to buy some more and start having a small collection. Which ones of the following Diatonic do you recommend me?: - Suzuki Hammond HA-20 - Suzuki Promaster MR-350 / MR-350V - Suzuki Fire Breath MR-500 - Suzuki Pure Harp MR-550 - Suzuki Fabulous F-20J / F-20E Apparently the F-20 weights 157 gr, whereas the others weight 91-95 gr. I love the solid feeling of a heavy weight instrument. Why that difference in weight? Buying the F-20 makes worth buying for instance the MR-350V too? I don't mind buying all from the list, but if the MR-500 / MR-550 give different sound then ok, but if the F-20 is somehow sort of a better MR-350 then why buying the MR-350 too? Any other suggestion about highest quality harps from other manufacturers? Any top quality Tremolo out there? (no Chromatic, those are more difficult to play). Thanks and keep playing that magic!

@brenden what would happen if your new Bender Bar were adapted for this harp? Could it theoretically allow for overblows easily, even as the magnet is engaged? And just for a little fun, imagine a PowerBender tuned TurboSlide, inside a Turbo Cover, using Gazelle halve valves, and then topped off with your Bender Bar. Would it sound at all? Probably not. But it'd be like a helicopter race truck bike. And that's gotta be cool! ;)

The first harmonica, how does it sound like the. Like wavy. Btw I'm interested in buying harmonica to learn n was just wondering if u can make that wavy sound with any harmonica... Also which harmonica should I get? The key of?..
@bobu5213
8 жыл бұрын
+Klayton Vajtku The first harmonica is a chord harmonica to play chords on. Don't pick it for learning it is for people who have been playing for a while. To get a wavy sound you need to bend notes. I can bend but I need to master it and I have been plaing for two years. If you are learning you should probably get a diatonic(A harmonica in one key). But I started with a chromatic(A diatonic with a slide to get sharp and flat notes). Diatonic scale in c: www.google.nl/search?q=diatonic+scale+harmonica+c&biw=1260&bih=691&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjz7_HHk-PLAhVF2Q4KHVKnBAcQ_AUIbygB Chromatic scale in c: www.google.nl/search?q=chromatic+scale+harmonica+c&biw=1260&bih=691&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwic79vFk-PLAhXFuw8KHbF7DewQ_AUIBigB Most harmonica's are in C since it is kind of the standard in music. If you play in second posistion or crossharp on the C harmonica you will basically get a pentatonic scale in G. So one key isn't really one key. For example a harmonica in G in second posistion is in D. Then you also have a tremolo wich is a harmonica with two holes on each hole one tuned slightly flat and one tuned slighty sharp wich makes a unique trilling sound. Conclusion: Get either a diatonic in c or a chromatic in c. Then when you can play a bit, you can start getting sets of harmonica's in diffirent keys or a better more expensive chromatic.

Derek Frost It turns out we’re both right, and both wrong. Many grades of SS are not magnetic, while others are. It depends on the iron content - ferritic SS is magnetic, austenitic SS isn’t. My family had a restaurant when I was young, my dad would buy SS commercial kitchen units and test with a magnet - no stick means SS (low iron and high nickel content in commercial SS appliances). But many less expensive grades of SS are magnetic. So it’s both - sometimes magnetic, sometimes not.
