I’m a 72 year old buzzard bedridden laying here with tears in my eyes. I was a working musician for 30+ years playing pop covers in clubs when young. We never did a Carpenter song because none of us could sing them. There was always something out of reach. She was a gift from God.

I was in weekend Rock/Pop bands for many years and would do solos from time to time - piano/vocal - and would do that Leon Russell song "A Song for You" a lot. Even though most of my Musical friends weren't fans - harder Rock was their cup of tea - but I was. I understood the Magic of her voice! She & Richard were definitely gifts from God! Music is our connection to the Divine. Take care.

I'm a 17 year old musician and there just isnt anything like The Carpenters and the music of the 60s-70s today. Karen Carpenter is easily my biggest female inspiration. Her voice is so iconic and weirdly gives me such a nostalgic, warm feeling. I suppose it may be because I have an old soul!! I hope to bring the feel of this era back into today's music :)

I'm 71, soon to be 72, and I will love Karen Carpenter to the end of my days. If only she hadn't been robbed of her life so young, can we only imagine what more she would have brought to life with her magical voice. Richard must be very brave to have lost his working partner and beloved sister. Both had divine gifts, Richard has the gift of creative musical arranging and a fine pianist. Karen, a fantastic drummer and singer extradinaire, she sang with the birds in the trees and they were jealous! Rest in Peace, beautiful Lady.

Being born in 1981, I was brought up to the late 60s and 70s music during my grade school years. I never really appreciated it at the time, but now 35 years later I realize how special that era was and the talent that oozed out of that era in pop music. Nostalgia for me during this era is a funny thing. It is wonderful and at the same time it hurts knowing that you only have the visions of how amazing and special that time was. Longing for the past. To quote one of my favorite movies "it reminds us of all that once was good, and could be again"....Field of Dreams. This music reminds us of a simpler time. And for us to young to remember, it serves as a beautiful vision of what once was been. How lucky were those alive then to experience it! And how lucky are we all to have the legacy continue forever with the music.🥺

What a troubadour you are. You have probably heard every accolade, but people really mean it when they say you changed their lives. Your amazing magical legacy is that ALL of it, your entire portfolio of work, has been FOR GOOD. Here we are in 2022, and look at what we've become as a nation - so troubling, so many people hurting, so much violence and confusion. But always in my heart pocket is you and Karen. Great big fluffy clouds of honesty, sweetness, beauty, purety, and soulful harmonies to float on. More than ever, your music is the message we need to hear. I've loved you and Karen since I was 10. I was born in 1956, so the 70’s was a big music decade for me (after the music monolith of the 60s.)So many of The Carpenter’s songs meant so much to me….the words, the harmonies, the sweetness and the melancholy that I often felt in my teens and early 20s. I’m also an alto, and have sung in choirs off and on all my life, so I could easily sing along with Karen. I could never match her superb quality, but boy, I sure did love to sing those songs. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! And Richard was the wizard behind all of them….what an incredible talent too! The Carpenter’s will always be musical legends of their time and beyond.

I don’t think it detracts from Karen Carpenter’s legacy nor from Richard to admit there are other - albeit a small subset- uniquely talented, skilled, and powerful musicians. That subset is unique because there’s plenty of good vocalists, or players, or groups, but the Carpenters had actual musicianship and composition woven into their package. That might have been enough to reach the upper echelon but then there was Karen’s voice, and Richard’s skill with arrangement. Success was inevitable even if they didn’t try hard. But they did try at it!

When I hear ANY Carpenters song it takes me to a bittersweet moment in my childhood. I was eleven years old and had spent an exhausting day shopping for dark dresses... one for my father's funeral, another for the viewing. I was spending the night at my cousin's and her two little girls, about five and seven years old, climbed in bed with me, one on each side and sang, "Close to You." Then the youngest asked, "did we cheer you up?" I told them they had cheered me up a lot and they "might have to do it twice tomorrow." Karen's beautiful song, two little angels in my bed... it was a good night. RIP Daddy. RIP Karen.

Karen had one of the best singing voices Ever. Shocking to see her decline and extreme weight loss. I was a young man in my early twenties when she died. I was saddened by her death and still to this day listen to the Carpenters. We were blessed by great music in the 60s and 70s. Great memories. 🤔🤔
