Thanks for getting me started in micros. I thought you had the best way of doing things and copied you. The only thing I tried without following procedure was sunflower and I did get mold. The only others I have done are peas and radishes and they are a hit with everyone that has had them. I like to garden and this is the easiest way to grow great nutrition with so much punch of flavor. Thank you again.

As of Oct 2021, the bootstrap farmer trays are averaging 6$ each for trays, short or tall, holes or not. Compared to last year, the new black 10x20 2.5" trays are made differently and are a bit more flimsy than the ones I bought last year. They still stack and cover the older ones but are def a bit different. I think they are still worth it. The good thing about black trays is that they do block light better than other colored trays. Also, I ordered a 10 pack from BF and they are now out of stock of those, even though they still have 5 packs.

@@AfricanMusume I think that they would be compatible. The main issue is that they seemed to be using a different manufacturer or process so they do not seem quite as durable.

Great video. Just wanted to let you know that On The Grow sells clips that you can attach to your older model trays, and easily lift them up. Same function that you have with the new tray design, you can have with the old tray model, with these clips that On the Grow has designed specifically for the Bootstrap Farmer trays.

Great video, BSF trays are the bomb fo sho. The black trays are made from a certain PCV, which is very porous compared to the BSF trays, that is why the micro roots, the hair roots actually penetrate the pores of the tray and makes it harder to get them back to new.

@@PrincetonMicrogreens They were developed in the early days of plastics. They served a purpose. We have long moved on. If we are going to use plastic, It should be the best; degrade when we want it to degrade, last when we want it to last, be healthy when we need it to be healthy. Some say we shouldn't use them, but as a hobby chemist, we can make plastic work for us. Keep in mind that the original cellophane was wood based and biodegradable.

Hi, I have another question. The trays I bought in Germany have about 30, 5mm holes and the space between the top and the bottom tray is 1cm. How does bottom watering work, if the is no contact of the top tray with the water in the bottom tray? Only thru evaporation? The soil always feels very dry.
@PrincetonMicrogreens
3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen this before and you’ll have to put a small pool of water in the bottom tray. Enough that the top tray can touch it.
@charlibravo371
9 ай бұрын
You can also put rope in the bottom of the soil tray and push the ends through the holes into the watering tray. The rope will 2ick moisture into the soil.
@DemokratieErwacht

The new trays have much more holes and also those long holes. The old ones seemed to have 24 small holes. What is better? Is it important that the roots come thru the holes directly into the water? Thank's that you made me grow Microgreens for my family. Even the kids like it. So far I tried Broccoli, Radish, Red Cabbage, Dun Peas and Wheatgras. Greetings from Germany
