To be honest, this tablet impressed me! I'm a Xiaomi Pad 5 user and now, looking back at this kind of tablets which cost +100€ less, they literally could make the same things for me (as I mostly just watch Netflix & KZitem). If I knew, I'd probably went for this Chuwi or the Realme Pad.

Normally I'm not much for tablets, especially not budget tablets, just my own personal experiences. That said, this one seems to have a really responsive interface and clean video playback, even with a CPU a little older and weaker than I would have chosen. Thanks for the review, Prime! I had a 10 inch CHUWI for about 1.5 years. Then the battery expanded like a Braut and destroyed the screen. I was in a WebEx meeting when it shattered. "Excuse me, I have to take the tablet and throw it outside. I'm afraid of a fire". Great tablet. For the time I had it. Edit, I decided that my use case didn't really need something that nice. So Fire HD 10s since. I have 2. Yeah, I know, but for my use case, their fine. It could be that I left the thing plugged in most of the time. I've learned since then, that's a no-no. Hard to prove though if that was the reason.

My Huawei Mate 20 Pro did that a few months after I bought it (this was when the device was first launched). Battery swelled up to the point it pushed the back cover completely off - and the glue that holds those covers in place is nothing to sniff at! I was terrified of it catching fire so I was forced to throw it away - I took it back to the phone store who luckily had a metal bin out back that they put old phones in that has a sealed lid to lower fire risks. Turned out I was actually to blame, I was plugging it in to the charger too often and leaving it plugged in after it had reached 100% charge. Seems like "topping it up" too much instead of letting the battery run down as well as leaving the device plugged in for too long ruins the battery - especially when the phone in question has Quick Charge (I now _hate_ that "feature") which you _cannot_ turn off.

I had a Chuwi windows laptop for 3 years, and I had some problems with it. The keyboard stopped working after half a year, I requested customer service and they told me I had to send it to their europe repair center (which afortunately was in my country) only had to pay sending the package, reparation and returning was completely free. Then the CPU fan started making weird crackling noises and stopped working, too. This was probably the mailing service during delivery. I asked directly and they agreed to send me a new cpu fan for 20€ as I was already out of warranty. And lastly, battery started expanding like crazy, I could see it below the trackpad. I then bought a replacement battery from aliexpress and changed it. For 250€ having a 2k IPS screen laptop with i3 6157u and iris 550 gpu was pretty overkill, I ran windows 11, chromeOS and even MacOS on it.

Currently xiaomi mi pad 4 is as good as it gets for an 8 inch tablet at this price range. Otherwise the best 8 inch tablet is lenovo legion y700. Personally I have an nvidia shield tablet, its pretty awesome, you just cant really do good multitasking on it because of the low ram(even with lineage os with no gapps and zram enabled at idle it stays around 1gb which must be a quirk of the nvidia SoC/firmware) and the battery life is questionable. Pretty much everything else is superb, the screen, the stereo speakers, the tegra k1 soc with the nvidia graphics(its the fastest 32bit soc actually), I only wish it had an extra gig of ram and easier to replace(and find) battery. I managed to replace the battery on mine which was hard asf but even the new battery that I got only appears to be at 4000mah capacity.

@@TimelordUK I've never noticed any lag at all with a BT controller across multiple Android devices and OS versions and I've looked for it. Some people claim that they can notice a lag; your mileage may vary. I've not tried a Bluetooth controller with any other OSes besides Android, so I can't speak to how one might perform with your laptop. Another option for a wireless controller that'll work with everything you own is a 2.4GHz model. I don't have a 2.4G controller but I've read that the format is supposed to be much faster and much more stable than Bluetooth. Android supports the format so you should be able to use the same controller with your phone, tablet, and laptop. ETA recently did a video on the (I'm probably going to butcher this name) Gulykit King Kong 2 Pro controller. Its claim to fame is that it uses Hall Effect sensors, basically electromagnets, to locate the analog sticks instead of a physical connection so the sticks, in theory, should never start drifting or wear out. Another option is anything by 8BitDo. I don't own any of their controllers; but a lot of people in these comments and on Reddit seem to swear by them. A few swear at them; but, even Toyota has made a lemon or two. Personally; I bought a Mingpin X5 Plus for $10 last December on eBay and it's been rock solid. The sticks occasionally like to drift, usually straight up, but pausing and making a couple of circles with the offending stick seems to make things right for a while.

@@tanteiritzo not that I know of. There's another glitch. In landscape mode the screen doesn't always register where you tap it, for example pop up menus or sliding progress bars on videos. You need to rotate to portrait, and then tap the required area for it to register. I've got a star field as my main home screen wallpaper. I've noticed if I hold my finger on the screen, the stars appear to twinkle because there is a very slight pixel movement. I can only notice it on my wallpaper but it is there

I have an older tablet. Does Google Play Services still eat a bunch of CPU resources? I had to turn mine OFF to get any good response on mine.

I really like all those tablets from China but... What about durability test? How many years do these tablets last?? 🤔

Previous Chuwi, 1.5 years and then the battery expanded. Common? No idea. Much better than a Fire HD 10. A lot more expensive than a Fire HD 10. I bought 2 Fire HD 10s. They work for me and are Good enough.

It's pretty bad. 240€ in my country. For a bit more, paying attention to some deals, you could buy a Xiaomi Pad 5 for 280€, which has a 90hz screen, an snapdragon 860, good bezels, dolby vision & audio, 8700 mha, stylus support, widevine lvl 1... even with 6GB ram it is sooo much better.
