I just bought the GT3 today and it literally came out yesterday! I had no idea but this was the best club i hit during my fitting. So far seems really good once you drop the club on your down swing you can really feel the pendulum effect as it just blasts the ball on impact! paired up with the stiff hazardous shaft swing speed was 110 and distance carry about 280 roll out 300 on best hits

Great Video Andy. It would be interesting if you still had the numbers from when you got fitted for the TSR2 to compare them and see how much your swing has changed during the year in terms of numbers it produces and what changes you might have done to your swing to affect those numbers.

I do think the analysis needs to be the heads against each other with the same shaft and dare I say that the heads should be set at the same loft settings as well. I'd like to see the spin numbers and effective loft numbers and carry distances compared against each other. It's possible as a hypothesis that: if you put the same TSR2 head loft and use the same shaft as the GT3 -- that we won't observe a material differnece in spin rate/carry distance.

TSR2 at 7.25* vs GT3 at 9*. TSR2 is way too low loft with that spin. Ball is dropping out of the air even at those ball speeds. Raise it to 8* or 8.75* and your spin will be much better. Distance will be longer as well.
@cwugrad396

Could have had 8, 8.75 or 9.5 loft and all would have been better numbers than the 7.25 setting. Not saying it would have beat the GT3 but it would have been closer

Great Video....curious if you put a TSR3 head on that setup to see if there's much of a difference....or even TSi3.

That's the issue with fitting, needs to evolve with the ever evolving amateur swing. 6 months ago I was fit and was 8 head lofted to 9.5 deg, weight in toe. Went last week to try the gt and ended up keeping my tsr3 but changed to 8 degree lofted down weight in heel 😂 GT was shorter and wider dispersion for me. Fitter was great though, and didn't try and push a sale 👍

This is why I believe telling new golfers to always get fitted for irons is horrible advice. Telling a golfer who is constantly working on their swing to get fitted for clubs is just a downright disastrous suggestion. My swing has changed so much over the years that if I got fitted for clubs I'd need a new set every 6 months. Unless you're a smaller/taller chap that needs shorter or longer shafts, getting fitted for clubs is next to pointless as long as you are constantly evolving your swing. Once your handicap is consistent and your swing needs no improvements then is the time to get fitted and see the difference it can make.. But even then your swing could always change and the fitting goes right back out the window

If you’re going to spend £600 on a driver I’d suggest more than one fitting. Especially as most of us weekend warriors swing so inconsistently our results vary from day to day. Rumour was tiger could have a driver fitting in 5 or 6 swings. Us regular mortals probably need 5 or 6 sessions. Edit - shaft test you mention would be interesting

@gregdi8730 If ya wanna save!!.. get the TSR... new ones not that much better slightly faster... Unless your getting paid to golf noo big deal.I brought new both TSR2/3.. TSR2 with d-2 setting is a 7 degree driver. No wonder the TSR2 is going no where. Then, you compare to a GT with 9*. No wonder the GT goes further. This test is apples to oranges.

Do you buy the clubs you review, or do they provide it free of charge? As long as they continue to send you free clubs to test, I say there is appearance of bias. Or motivation not to anger the club makers who provide free brand new clubs to test.

@@ZukY-bi4ic of course i don’t buy them! Golf pros like me are independent, and review clubs as we see fit. For some background on me, I’ve played Titleist since high school! @@andycartergolffitting isn’t going to make a huge difference when your swing is as inconsistent as yours. Spinning a driver @1200 ? Consistently in the 1000’s with spin, that isn’t the club mate no chance. So many PGA pro’s are piss poor @ golf - about time they lowered the mandated 4 handicap to become one. How can you even review a club when you consistently hit the ball so poorly ? What is the point ? Why don’t you practice and get better at the game. Everybody knows differences in ball speed on centered hits are non existent. At best marginal gains on bad strikes, it’s mostly cosmetic and branding changes. If you would like a playing lesson off a very good amateur golfer let me know and we can see how good you are as a professional and how good this driver actually is. Document it.
