The "You do, hire her" is obviously a killer line but what I really love about Sorkin is that he doesn't let the audience know everything outright. Even the little tidbit with the reporter cutting off the voicemail just before we hear the last piece of Will's message. We know what it says, we don't need to hear it. Love that.

Well.... Except for the Maggie/Jim "romance" which had all the attraction of a dead skunk. Seriously, if they'd just not put that in, this show would have been significantly better. Sorkin does politics and dialog really well, but half the time his romance stuff absolute sucks, and really drags the shows down. Don/Sloan was MUCH better handled, but even the main Will/Mac one was pretty poor.

The music, the sound design, the message, it always gives me those good tingles (frisson? I think) every time. Where would you prefer to live? No country is perfect but the USA is an attempt to be admired. They were founded on spirit of individual rights, and they live up them this day, sometimes they fall short but they always aspire to be better and learn from their mistake. They’re the most powerful country on earth but they don’t conquer it. They are the most diverse countries on earth yet they are one of the most patriotic. Human race is a story of progression, progression of the species and America has done much toward that goal. Disclaimer: I’m not American, my country abolished slavery first and did it by democratic vote not a bloody civil war. Then we tried to crush the slave trade of all other countries. We used our great power in the 1800s to try and (for the first time) remove slavery from human culture. And to a large degree it worked. So I love my country and am proud of it greatly 🇬🇧 But that doesn’t mean I can’t recodnise the wonder and nobility of such a young nation. God bless America 🇺🇸 Britain’s greatest (accidental) invention. Apart from leading and often forcing the world to abolish slavery.
@TejasR

@@jimmy2k4o UK was the root cause of the slave trade, British were the biggest beneficiaries of the slave trade. A bit hypocritical to claim credit in partially solving a problem they created. The colonial history is nothing to be proud of either. I concede though, that unlike the actions of democratic nations, most of these happened when a monarch was in absolute power and as such, the people cannot be blamed, and neither do I place the blame on British people.

Don't know Manhattan that well). And even to the extent that his life was made less terrific it was his answer that did so rather than her question. Very nicely played by Daniels and Riley Voelkel.
