@3:50 If you wonder how to do the same thing on the left box, just inset face area you want to extrude inward, it will do the same thing as the add on does. Vanilla
@ArtisansofVaul
Ай бұрын
That can cause additional issues with the grid inside (depending how far you want to inset) so I would recommend turning those into one face first. But it is an option for sure.

That's a neat feature. I tried with vanilla, you just need to merge at center first and then you circularize, inset, etc. I think bracing edges are a concept everybody should understand first, and I am not sure but in your video, the regular method seems a little bit more balanced even though the shape is wrong. I need to keep watching the series so I can see the the value of the product. What is more interesting is that because of the new extensions platform, I am finding the authors of the legacy tools that made into the bundled list of addons that comes with Blender. And I'm finding real gems on old forum posts that never became fully developed add-ons but still works. Most of them are just experimental and don't bring much benefit to a pipeline

Thats really interesting about the older tools you've been finding! I love the new extensions now, I was skeptical but the ability for the "native" tools to be updated without needing a new version of Blender is awesome. I've done some videos on some updates to Bool Tool that are fantastic.

The reason you don't like the right one is because you have an E pole on a cliff. On the left one, the E pole happens to be on a flat surface. Once you added a control loop, you pushed the E-Pole away from the cliff and cleared the pinching
@ArtisansofVaul
Ай бұрын
@@eitantal726 I know why it happens 🤦 That's why having one that doesn't create that issue initially is better.
@eitantal726
Ай бұрын
@@ArtisansofVaul It was actually the extrusion that created the poles, not looptools. corresponding N poles are also created at the bottom indentation. Those can be destroyed by replacing the bottom with an Ngon + inset
@eitantal726
Ай бұрын
@@ArtisansofVaul The genius subtlty of nSolve is that it sends edges outwards radially, one per vertex. THAT is why no poles are created, you end up with a loop. Extruding a loop does not introduce poles either

3:45 u should've inseted before using the loob tool it will give same result But even better in terms of the inside circle is automatically grid filled U can also pick the circle radius from the loob tools

How to achieve the same thing: 1. Select and Delete the inner vertices where the hole will be 2. Select the ring of vertices surrounding 3. Extrude: Scale down 4. Looptools circle 5. Extrude (on Z this time) 6. F, and I

@@ArtisansofVaul You don't have to connect anything, merge anything or count. The reason no poles are near the cliff is the double extrusion. only the 1st extrusion in step 3 creates poles

With an inset, after the circle tool and before the extrusion you can avoid a lot of… Nsolve is super powerful, it scares me a bit.
@ArtisansofVaul

I'm going to be totally honest, it scared me a bit to begin with as well. There is just SO much to it. Its almost three addon's in one and while thats very generous from TeamC it's really intimidating as it feels like a huge amount to learn. Hopefully some of the videos I have put out and the series on the other tools next week will help a lot with that as it took me a good solid couple of days of playing with it to figure of some of the tricks to it. But really it is fantastic, its going to make so many tasks that were annoying SO much quicker.

A lot of those add-ons try to circumvent an issue mesh modeling has If Blender would have embraced subd modeling together with NURBS like Amani Pro did - Blender would be so much more further ahead in the industry.
@ArtisansofVaul

I mean but then it wouldn't be mesh modelling would it... So then it would have issues in other functions where mesh modelling is more beneficial.

One of the things that's SO great is everything is there, it's either all very accessible buttons or there are shortcuts that are kept on the screen. Unlike almost any other addon it gives the user the best of both worlds to choose from for what the prefer.
