Thankyou so much for recommending The Ordinary. I am 41 and I'm from country South Australia(Lot's of 45' celcius days).I have never moisturised or looked after my skin EVER. But with 6 kids skin care tends to come last on the list, I know it's terrible. But since finding you I have been using a combo of their serums for the last 6 weeks and Crikey it's like a miracle. My skin went from very dry enlarged pores with deep wrinkles around my mouth, and now my skin is smooth and soft, less red and my wrinkles aren't as deep. I also use day and night moisturisers. Honestly for the price it's absolutely amazing and I'm sending everyone I know to your channel. Thankyou so much you have changed my life 😘

I have been watching videos that mention The Ordinary for several months now by other You-Tubers and I want to let you know that this video is the one I have found to be the most helpful one in describing a simple but effective skincare routine that explains which products to use and how to layer them. So many other videos are too confusing in their attempt to explain which serums you can and cannot combine.

Hello! since I discovered your channel I was fascinated. the differences are incredible but for some reason I feel you close and trustworthy. I admit that at the age of 52, I have just discovered what skin care is about outside of struggling with hormonal acne. I'm from the Caribbean where there's only one season! Summer, a lot of heat and humidity and even then your skin care and make-up tips make a lot of sense to me. I am in the middle of a crusade with the products of The Ordinary and thanks to you I am slowly testing what fits my needs. I love when you include your mom because she makes a balance between your age and mine and that also guides me! Thank you and continue your incredible work. 👋🏻💗🇵🇷

Great refresher for everyone on how to apply skin care products! I absolutely love The Ordinary’s products! I wanted to add that skin care should be taken down the neck and onto the chest to fight the signs of aging as well. The other part of the body that gets forgotten about is the back of your hands, so all your skin care products should also be applied there. Nobody wants a youthful face and old looking hands & chest! Love your videos Gemma!! 💖

I always do this too. Those serums that can be combined I drop into my palms and then pat/ massage into my face, neck and decollete first. Whatever is left will go to the top of my hands. In my family the women get pigmentation spots ("liver spots") on their hands as early as 40. I'm almost 42 and while my hands are definitely not 20 anymore (rheumatism isn't really helpful in this area though), but my skin looks pretty good despite said rheumatism and eczema. It also helps I don't sunbake (yes bake instead of bathe😂) like the rest of the family and also use SPF50. I'm pale as Casper, but with skin cancer in my genes I'd rather use lots of bronzer instead ;).

I bought TO after I saw your first video and I LOVE it. I put together a rutine covering retinoides, antioxidants, directe acids and molecules after a lot off resurge on TO website. I don´t mix them all in the morning and night, I only use the antioxidant Alpha Lipoic acid 5% 2-3 times a week at night and skip the Lactic Acid 10% + HA. I also use Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG under my eyes for puffines and dark circles. I have dry skin and get a little bit oily on the T- zone. I also have (adult)acne on my neck and a deep creese between my brows, so deep that foundation settles there. After 2 months with TO my acne is almost gone, the creese is hardly noticeble and my sun damage on my forehead and cheek is slowly fading. My scin looks clearer and smoother than ever before, even in my twenties, I´m 45 now. The T- zone hardly gets oily and my foundation looks so smooth on my face. I bough TO at H & M. I will never ever use anyting else on my face.

By the way, I use almost all the same products. I use the Buffet variety with the peptides (blue) instead of the clear one since it has more active ingredients, but both Buffet serums seem to be too sticky for me and result in pilling (yuck), no matter the application. I'm thinking of going over to Matrixyl instead, or their Hylamide Subq serum, which is stronger and I like it (atm part of my PM). The Hyaluronic acid from Hylamide is also better than the one from The Ordinary, but yes...a little more expensive. The HA 2% is very good though, but I agree: sticky. If you have very dry skin like me it's not going to be enough as a hydrating serum (Hylamide better) and the same can be said for the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. While I love the consistency of it (very fluffy, easy to apply and sinks into my skin in seconds) I still need another moisturizer after this! At night I use one of the oils that TO offers. They are great quality and considering they're 100% organic and pure really cheap compared to other brands. In the AM I now use another brand's moisturiser cream after the serums and the NMA+HA and then my personal Sahara, aka my skin, feels decently moisturized (though after makeup I still need a hydrating spray). The only thing I'm not really a fan of is their retinoids. I'm getting the idea nothing is happening. In case you were wondering: am 41, have very dry, sensitive skin with eczema and the potential of cystic acne and milia (those little white hard bumps on your cheeks). I can no longer afford to go to my skin therapist to have a monthly acne treatment and removal of blackheads and milia, which I always needed. But since I've been using Niacinamide, Ascorbyl etc I hardly need to! Even when I get a breakout it is gone within days due to some extra Niacinamide and the amount of milia is minimal. I'm not using an acid right now because my skin had a lot of eczema lately, but if I'll try again I'll test the azelic (? Forgot name, sounds like it) acid, which seems a little better for mature skin. But otherwise I'll try the lactic acid. Deciem really has great products for the small wallet.

I quite like the squalane cleanser. It's a gel to oil preparation which you rub it between your hands but it takes a while to get oily. I take it off with a hot cloth. My skin does feel nice afterward and it was fine on my eyes and neck, areas that I tend to experience some sensitivity. However, I think it's expensive for the small tube. It's £5.50 for 50ml from Beauty Bay. Not sure whether I'll buy another one or not. I'll probably stick with the Cerave cleanser which is cheap as chips and FAB!

Hi Gemma (or someone else), a totally unrelated question: I'm looking into the Alex drawers from IKEA and I see one in the background. Is that the smaller 9drawer Alex? Those that are 36cm in width (I guess in inches that is like 14? Dunno) If so, could you tell me if it would also be useful to put in books and/or administration? I have so little space in my house and need to have a good thing that's tiny enough to fit there (hence the small Alex drawer), but that will allow a variety of things. That variety of things will be - makeup, hair apparatus, hobby materials, but - and this is why I ask- I also need to fit my administrative ordners and some academic research material (books) in them. Since I'm handicapped I have to order them online or ask someone to get them, so I can't go to IKEA to check if they would fit. Hence the question when I suddenly saw one.

Thank you for your great informative video on these amazing products! I bought all of them in your day & night routine. My skin has transformed. For years, I only washed my face in the shower and moisturized/SPF before make up. I’m in my early 50’s and really need to step up my skin care routine. Now after using the products for only 12 days I am seeing a lovely smoothness and glow to my skin. My “crows feet” at the corners of my eyes, lines in middle of my brows (frown lines), fine lines by my mouth and even my forehead lines are all diminished! The only thing I changed was to use the niacinamide 10%+ zinc 1% at night after the granactive retinoid 2% emulsion. I read that Vit C and niacinamide can cancel each other out-so I moved it to night time, plus I found the niacinamide to be a bit sticky (like you had said) - (wasn’t perfect for my rushed morning routine before work). At night, I also added 100% Organic cold-pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. (The smell is a bit earthy and tea leaf smell-but my skin in the morning is transformed to a beautiful softness and glow). Thank you Gemma for all of your demonstrations and detailed product info on the molecular dermal level. Love the “science behind the product”!

Niacinamide and Vitamin C will only hinder each other if the vitamin C is very potent. In this routine I use a very mild vitamin C so you wouldn't have any issues xxx

First as in, before you wash your face in the morning? Or is she saying when you wash face with water and pat dry, THEN use vitamin c? I always thought to use toner immediately after washing face. Hmmm

Hi Gemma, Am doubtful you will get this message but sadly I am not on Instagram so here goes, worth a try! I have just ordered a selection of these products so was making notes from this and also your previous video about your Favourites from The Ordinary Range, dated January 29 2018. The colour contacts in that earlier video are stunning and I have fallen in love with the deep blue. Don't suppose you know which blue they were please? It might help me decide which to order. It's so difficult. Thank you for being there and am sending best wishes to you and yours. Keep up the good work x

Hi Gemma, I'm a true fan of the ordinary too. Using more products, mixing some as a cocktail in my hand (Wayne Goss said it's allowed). Some things of other brands too. Sunscreen from Dr.Sam Bunting. My skin is beautiful since I learned so much about skincare😊

Hi lovely! I just discovered for channel and I must thank you for all the clear explanations on skincare and products for it!. I just turned 21 and I was wondering if I should already start using an anti-aging skincare regime as the one you show in this video or I'm still young to worry about this things.. I don't want to have any regrets on the future but I don't want to start too early and waste my money on products that won't do anything yet. Thank you so much hun!

Adriana Cañas Most important thing at your age, is to be diligent with sunscreen. Always wear at least a moisturizer with spf and reapply during the day, especially before you spent time outdoors. Otherwise, if you have no skin issues, that bother you (like oily skin or enlarged pores)...just stick to a gentle cleanser and a good moisturizer. I mean, of course you can try all of these products ‚for fun‘, but you likely won’t see much difference in your skin. Skin aging is caused mainly by uv radiation and other factors like smoking or chronic lack of sleep and stress. It has very little to do with your skincare (wearing sunscreen aside). Maybe a mild chemical peeling once or twice a week wouldn’t hurt, but again...if you have nice, smooth, youthful skin...just protect it from the sun and leave it the heck alone and save your money for other things 😉

Hiya Gemma, after not being much of a one to focus a lot on skin care and make up (lack of time + laziness) I'm now watching literally every vid you post (and taking notes!). Found your channel while doing some research, at 45 I'm going to a wedding in Cyprus next year I'm totally panicking at the state of my face and which skin care to buy. Going to try all of your recommendations for The Ordinary but I just wondered if you'd tried any products from FaceTheory? x

I guess this is just an FYI ,as I am a bit confused 🤔 on the "clean ,dry skin" recommendation since everything I have read concludes that it is better to apply products to damp \pre-treated skin. The idea is highlighted via the comparison of skin to a dry vs a damp sponge ,with the damp allowing for better penetration.I have found Skinn Enriched Softening Essence to be the most economical.Well other than just water,of course. 🙂
@PamperedWolf
4 жыл бұрын
Cynthia Mahoney you are correct for some hyaluronic acid products, however, most products get to their required depths without help from dampened skin. By dampening the skin you can sometimes hinder the absorption of products as they can go deeper than necessary and sometimes cause damage to the skin. Xxx

@@PamperedWolf Thank you for responding, but now I am really confused. What about microneedling then? Everyone seems to be microneedling and then slathering on serums. I knew organic was preferable, but only hyaluronic acid is advised?

Di McBride Hi! I‘m German, so please excuse my english! The hair serum is for thicker, denser, fuller and healthier looking hair (written on the bottle). My hair is very fine, thin, straight without volume 🙄☹️. I use the serum in the evening, so it can „work“ over night. Honestly, I still don‘t have thick hair, but it is definetly healthier. Because of the relatively low price, I think you should try it. Hope this helped?! Greetings Sabine
