@All... TMI... BION... My 70th BD was the 3rd (11/51) and I will share this with y'all... Bill Deal and his wife babysitted me and my sister when we was young kids. My mother knew them and altho she could play piano she didn't do the scene. We lived in Deep Creek (Canal) near the ICW (international waterway) in the mid 50's. A few miles from Norfolk and Virginia Beach. What memories and what a musician, et al...

Saw William and the guys at O. C. B. Md., 1978, got all their autographs, Ammon wasnt there, all were real standup guys, esp. William, down to earth, modest as could be.

A fellow i came to know working with over the years got his start with these guys. he started with them in Virginia beach in the 60's i believe as a roadie and soon became their tour manager as he grew with them. he went on to work with many big country acts. He was with Brooks and Dunn for a very long time and when they called it quits he went out with Urban. unfortunately he fell of a stage last fall and landed on his head and died from head trauma at 72. Sounds old but he was a very healthy man.

No. Bill Deal passed away as did the original drummer and lead singer Ammon Tharp. I believe these are some of the other original members. Ammon was the lead singer, I believe, on most of their best known hits. He had a unique voice and would be hard to replace.

Didn't Bill Deal sell the name of the band at some point to a bunch of totally unrelated musicians? Is this that group?
@drtunes
Жыл бұрын
William did sell the name "Rhondels" as you describe here, but retained the rights to the "Original Rhondels". He returned to the music business some years later and reassembled many of the original players and used the name "The Original Rhondels". That is this group.
