I've seen people using the overhand knot as part of the Hishi Karada and I enjoyed the aesthetic look of it!

1:30 Dude! That transition! *Chef's kiss* It works only with these vids. If it was a full tie up tutorial, I'd be crying while falling behind, because I wouldn't be able to keep up even with 0.25 speed "drunk Rory" tutorial ;D

With my sailing and navy background, this knot is a definitely no-go. The knots to make should be knots that can easily be undone. This can be done by folding knots to release tension. With the overhand knot this isn't possible. This is possible, however, when you wrap the rope around one more time. The figure 8-knot. This is how I do it, it also looks better. And it is safer and saves your rope.

Tape them first before cutting, cut somewhere in the center of the tape, use a hot junk pan on the stove on the end to melt the fibers together

Depending on the material you can either melt the rope at the ends to prevent fraying or use some strong tape such as gaffers tape to keep the ends together. If you really want to learn some old school methods you can learn how to weave the ends of the rope back into itself to make a non fraying end. Though that's a bit much most just go with tape or melting.

Burning the ends works, but I like to whip the ends of mine. All you need is some twine, it looks good, and I've never had any problems with fraying afterwards. It's easier to see than explain, so give it a Google.

With cotton I tape the ends, cut them, and then put a drop of super glue to keep all the fibers together.

Hey rory , I was wondering if you would be able to make a video about how you wind up your rope because usually when I do it . It gets all sort of knots and tangles and I just wanna throw the rope across the room lol . Sincerely, tristan he/they/theirs

Do you have any shibari books that you would recommend. I've been looking around but I mostly only seeing things on line. And I want to be able to see what it's all about before I buy it but if you have a recommend I'd love to hear

Quick question, is it normal for a 13 year old to be into this kind of things
@suzannewoodard8238

as a mom of 3 I would encourage this! BIT ONLY SAFELY!! AND WITH YOU BEING YOUNG, ALWAYS HAVING , AGAIN ALWAYS HAVING SUPERVISION, NOT FRIEND SUPERVISION... ADULT SUPERVISON! IF YOU CANT GET INTO A CLASS, TRY GOOD REVIEWED BOOKS! REMEMBER YOU CAN ALWAYS GET NEW ROPE! YOU CANNOT GET NEW NERVES, NEW FINGERS, ARMS OR LEGS!! OR NERVE ENDINGS!! OR HANDS! AGAIN!! TELL SOMEONE , HAVE SUPERVISION AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOUR DOING HOW AND WHY!!! HAVE SOMEONE WITH YOU!! UNTIL YOU GET THE HANG OF IT! SAFETY SAFETY AMD MORE SAFETY!! SAFETY SISCORS FIRST BEFORE GETTING ROPE! BE SAFE!! 💋
