@pinobluevogel6458

@@Lemonpepperwett I think a lot of people still hold some resentment of what KD did by first joining the Warriors, then leaving the Warriors and then leaving the Nets. What also might be a factor with him, is being a bit of a cheatcode, being so long and so effective from range raising over people. If he does that to your team and over your best players, that might frustrate people. I think the most important thing is that the Suns are also a team that haven't had the best record of behaving well, including doing a lot of trashtalking and people just love seeing them fail because of that. They have a bit of an attitude like they are on top of the world, but meanwhile they are simply a very poorly constructed team. For real, I don't like KD either, but I do not hate him or dislike him more than any other player in specific. I think he is a fantastic and effective basketball pro, someone that has had an impressive career and I respect him a ton for that. The main difference between Jokic and KD is that Jokic isn't pretentious. He is simply a hardworking dude that happens to be insanely effective at what he does. No attitude issues, no ego .. just doing his job and for the most part keeping his cool. I think you are sharp to point this out, as that might for real be happening now, but like how I expected the Suns to lose this, I also expect this difference in attitude towards these radically different stars.

Some of the satisfaction of the sweep comes from the Suns arrogance, but a huge part also comes from how the mainstream NBA media downplayed the T-Wolves and hyped up the Suns. Honestly, forcing his way out of another, selfinflicted mess, won't help Durants narrative at all. The only thing he can do? Accept his role as the 2nd best player on the Suns. Let the GM actually GM and let them get a Coach, that runs an actual offense. You know... like Kenny Atkinson did, before Durant got him fired on the Nets. Think about it: Atkinson and Durant should have won together with the Nets. But Irving and Durant were against this whole "system and structure" thing and wanted someone, that let them play with their friends... Admitting, that this (and giving out massive contracts to his friends, like DeAndre Jordan) was a mistake, would show some actual growth.

I knew right away that this Suns team wasn't legit. With their "Big 3" all playing almost the exact same way, no real defensive identity (when you're relying on Jusif Nurkic and a 35 year-old KD to be the anchor of your defense, you have problems), and a coach that is more defensively oriented trying to guide an offensive oriented team, it's a recipe for failure in today's NBA.

I was having a casual basketball conversation with my homie regarding Kevin Durant a few years ago. He made the comment that Kevin Durant, role wise, is no different than JJ Reddick in a role player capacity (this was about 3 years ago, and he’s a suns fan so before he went to PHX) I clowned him so hard for that, I thought it was genuinely absurd. Now, a few years later, honestly, I get it. Kevin Durant has been a severely overqualified role player ever since he left OKC. He’s not even a bus rider, he is dead ass the security guard who was part of the team that got Bin Laden but now works as a metro guard He hasn’t led a team since 2016. He’s always been the third option in these big threes because he doesn’t offer anything other than scoring. Don’t get me wrong, generational scoring talent, but that’s it. That’s all he does. He’s not a great defender, he’s not a facilitator in any capacity, he’s not a rebounding presence, he just shoots ball into hoop. He plays a single role, and doesn’t want to be a leader. He is literally a Lou Williams/Jamal Crawford with legendary shooting. I know it sounds insane, but I’ve come around on it
@urbaindelva7869
5 ай бұрын
Your friend is partially wrong. Durant was not the third option when he was in Golden State; Klay Thompson was. As soon Durant signed with them, he immediately became their second-best player. He was the leader in Brooklyn, not Kyrie or Harden, which he proved in the series against the Bucks when he basically had neither of them in Game 7 and he nearly got them to the ECF. JJ Redick was mainly used in a catch-and-shoot role throughout most of his career. Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford were both sixth men, and Durant is a better rebounder and defender than them. You said that your friend is a Suns fan, so I wonder if he feels the same way about Devin Booker. Btw, he spent 8 years with Russell Westbrook, who-despite arguably being better at defense, rebounding, and facilitating, yet is bad at shoooting-was less effective as a number one option. However, Durant did have the most success when the roster was built to cover for the things he was pretty good, but not great at: facilitating (Russ, Steph, Harden), defense (Ibaka, Roberson, Draymond), rebounding (Ibaka, Steven Adams, Jarrett Allen, JaVale McGee).

I'm still about to get into the Suns segment but I just wanna say, Embiid really does not get enough criticism outside of people who comment on KZitem, but throughout his entire career he has always shrunk in the fourth quarter and this year's playoff is no different. Statistically (based on Clutchpoints) Embiid shot 3-18 in the fourth quarter the entire series. And he just always keeps flopping that it legit looks like a grown man throwing an infant tantrum. Trying to sell calls is so common in modern NBA but he just does it on a whole other level that he's actually risking injuring himself and other players with all of his flopping, and it's not leading to winning basketball. So how many more years do we witness his getting bounced in rounds 1-2 (never reaching conference finals) before we're allowed to be honest about him?

Here's an interesting take on the big 3 in Miami; because they only won 2 rings in 5 years, instead of 3 to become a formal dynasty; it showed the rest of the league that you can win titles through free agency but VERY specific conditions need to be met and it's expensive to do so, which isn't appealing to cost conscious owners. Essentially, the Miami experiment proved to be a failure in truly changing how rosters are built. In contrast, the warriors showed how to use free agency properly with KD's signing, in that they added on to an already existing, wildly successful core

I'm a Mavs fan and a Luka fan and I'm glad you called out Luka for how he's been playing. It's been disappointing to watch. We expect Jason Kidd to be out-coached, we expect role players to miss shots, we expect clippers players to get hot from 3. What we didn't expect was Luka to have 4 straight "bad/inefficient" (for his standard) games. Also, just as a basketball fan in general, I was really hoping to see another fantastic Kawhi/Luka battle, but they're both injured and playing (or not playing at all) like they're injured unfortunately. I really think the Mavs need more Green/Exum minutes when Kawhi isn't playing and less Washington/Kleber minutes. This just because I think Green/Exum are better perimeter defenders than Washington/Kleber whereas Washington/Kleber are better post defenders. In Kawhi-less games, Harden and Paul George are bigger parts of the Clippers offense and Washington/Kleber aren't quick enough laterally for those matchups. In Kawhi games, Washington/Kleber are the Mavs best defenders against Kawhi.

It doesn’t help the Suns that Frank Vogel can’t actually make adjustments. He’s a guy who thrived off of having elite defensive players and enough shooting around them to cover for the fact that he doesn’t have much skill at adjusting an offense at all. Only two of his teams were top 10 in PPG, and this team was the second at 10th, *barely*. He couldn’t change his style when the Pacers went smaller, he outright *refused* to make an adjustment after the Russ trade and spent the entire year running the *exact same plays* to the exclusion of sense, and didn’t even try to get Russ to buy in defensively like he should have. And now in Phoenix? Same problem. Dude’s Doc Rivers without the choking problem. No adjustment ability, no coaching scheme on offense. No connection with his players, as shown by how he lost the locker room ages ago *again*.

36:30, I wholeheartedly agree with Jacob here, and it also made me think: can we put KD in the same territory as KG? Both are MVP calibre players, couldn’t win with their original teams because of multiple reasons, left to team up with other superstars to win title(s) as the second best player. Idk man. Let me know yall. I would love to hear it.

The Sun's were such a casual bait team. They fulfilled the "can't play with 3 balls and obviously they all wouldn't be playing on the same day anyway." They were cooked trading for Durant, I sort of get it but they gave up what really amounted to better performing players than Durant and their future. It's the same thing Durant did to Nets.

I hate the way that Phoenix essentially handed the franchise to KD and shoved Book aside. Yes, he's the better player, but you drafted Booker, and he's been there since 2015. It's his team and franchise, he should have some input on some of those trades, especially since he led the Suns to the finals in 2021, and a 64 win record in 2022. They had great depth and defense on those teams

Jalen Brunson is a top 10 player in the league right now, I been glazing him since he got to New York, glad to see how good he is

While the statement is true, the clippers got a W in LA, the game that tied the series 2-2 was in Dallas. (Literally 5 seconds in and you’re WRONG!) lol love the breakdowns.

I’m all for trashing the Suns, but I was hoping for some Wolves highlights. First pro Minnesota franchise to sweep in the playoffs, only second time in 2 decades making it past the first round and Ant stepping up and being HIM

Trae Young is the only player you could argue againsr Brunson in the best 6'0 since Chris Paul imo, the next best guys are probably like Conley, Lou Will and Isaiah Thomas and anyone with eyes can tell you Brunson is clearly better.

This is just like the Nets 2.0 but somehow worse it boggles my mind that people think this team will win against a true contender (a dark horse contender but a contender nonetheless) like Minnesota. As a GSW fan and former Durant defender turned Hater this pleases me

Suns sweep looking less bad now that the wolves are not just on the verge of sweeping, but are straight up humiliating the defending champion Nuggets, blowing them out both games in Denver. And unlike the Suns, who lost one of their best starters and best 3pt shooter in the league Allen at the beginning of game one, the Nuggets have all their key parts healthy. The Nuggets series isn't over yet, and even if the wolves do sweep the Nuggets, it doesn't make the Suns any less of a disaster, at best if they had Allen they lose 4-1 instead of 4-0, but this series does give some context to their sweep of the suns, the wolves are making the defending champs look ever worse then the Suns did, so this now feels like less a suns are a mess thing and more the wolves are just that good.

At this point KD really should have stayed with Golden State and as a warriors fan i would love it. But speaking as a basketball fan like it really is something he should have done. He shouldnt have left because look how things panned out

thank you for articulating my emotions and opinions about kevin durant so thoroughly it really makes me cry of joy. watching KD fail is like watching an annoying toddler fall and scrape his knee and crying about it
