Hey Jake- I owe you a meal for JKP. That book along with Baar's research w/r/t heavy isos saved me after months of being told the wrong things by MULTIPLE sports doctors. I just got back to bike racing after extended time off to recover from patellar tendonitis and now I 100% have plica syndrome in both knees- medial knee pain that becomes unbearable while riding, clicking in the knees during motions that would cause the plica to slide over the femoral condyle, and a 'cordlike' mass that I can move around on the inside of each knee that also causes pain when manipulated. I am grateful for this video!

Wow, you went in to get it confirmed? What did they suggest for rehab?

@@jake_tuura For patellar tendonitis- yes. Same diagnosis from both doctors and confirmed by MRI. As for plica- no, I've made an appt to get it checked out but I'd be shocked if what I currently have is something different.

How does it fare now? I have the exact same issues down to the cordlike mass you describe causing issues on the inside of your knee .MRI revealed thickened plica. My doc is referring me to the orthopaedic surgeon. Wondering if you went down the surgery route and what the outcome is.@@nagabilchampa

@@TheFairholmeRange hey man! not saying this will work for you but the answer for me was load management and mobility work. working on flexibility/proper motor patterns became my sport for like a month. my hips were dogshit and my glutes were not engaging. spent 30 mins in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening just working on opening my hips and being able to move properly forwards, backwards, horizontally, and diagonally. i now run about 25/30 miles a week with my long run being in excess of 10 miles. i have no pain AS LONG AS I STAY ON TOP OF MY STRETCHING. i can't say this will solve things with you for certainty, but this is what worked for me.

Thanks for reaching back man. I also had gnarly patellar tendonitis before this, used JKP to great effect and resumed racing. Years later developed some TFL issues in the hip and then finally developed plica syndrome. My doc seems to think I'll have no issues with the surgery and I should be back...my meniscus is also healthy. I've been working hard to address the hip issues and overall mobility concerns I've had for ages. The pain in the plica has come down, but the grinding and popping is still very much there. Glad to hear rehab really helped you out. Are you able to ride again?@@nagabilchampa

if my plica is the issue, will it show that on an mri?

A doctor would have to pair those findings with other tests. Positive mri is not enough to say Plica is causing pain.
