Awesome, David!!! I was thinking about "ye good olde days" of The Price Is Right, and came across this clip. I was thinking how much more exciting it seemed back then, prizes were high quality and not disposable (think of microwave ovens that cost $500+ THEN!), and how clean cut and put together everyone was. It was great to see such deserving and appreciative young people win all the prizes! And it's even more gratifying to learn that you remained married to your wife and continue to have such gratitude!!! Talk about a happy story. Cheers to you, and many more years of happiness for both of you!!!

If Cadillacs were $11K back then regular cars probably were in the $5K-$6K range so that boat was about the same price as most cars and it was the 2nd prize. You could almost make one car the second prize and the Cadillac the third prize and you could win 2 cars! Today, you probably could only do it if you made the 2nd prize 5 digits and the 3rd prize 6 digits (have the 1st prize a 4 digit prize:). You might be able to do it during Dream Car Week or if they ever have prime time specials.

I often wonder whatever happened to contestants that appeared on game shows back then, late 60's, on into the 70s and 80s, what their lives are like now. And yes, wow a boat for the second prize in Golden Road, that rarely happened. I would be interested to know to know to, whatever became of the boat and cadillac. Thanks for the update David. Give or Keep: Patricia already won when she kept the higher priced items on the first two picks. Even if she had kept the lower priced items on the first two picks, as long as she kept the higher priced item on the final pick, she would have won so the trip to Hawaii so this was almost a gimme game. BTW, women were more natural looking back then with no tattoos, outrageous piercings and the full bush. I've always had the hots for Dian Parkinson and it's nice seeing her younger than me at this point in time. I sure wish I could go back to this point in time! She and I share the same birth date but she's 27 years older. Heck, she's almost 2½ years older than my mother!

On Gambit, it was announced by WInk that a couple would have to have give back prizes or cash to make their total $25K if they exceeded $25K after their last bonus round. Match Game had one contestant get to over $20K in 1975, and Gene said her last bonus round would be for $4K and change because of the limit. By Fall 1978, when Match Game introduced the Star WHeel and TPIR added the bonus spin to the Big Wheel, players retired at $25K but could keep up to $30K. Match Game in 1979 on an episode never aired on CBS(they cancelled the show before it aired) but aired on GSN in2001 had a player retire with over $30K, and they got to keep it all(if theywere paid at all as the episode didn't air). Not sure when CBS TPIR's first $25K winner occurred. Certainly by 1980 or 1981.

Did this episode air on GSN? What we see of it here is airable on GSN. WOnder what the daytime record at this time was, $18K had to be pretty close. A DSW would have likely put her over the $25K CBS limit at the time if she won that. For those who don't remember, the big wheel did have a $1K bonus for a dollar at this point, but there was no bonus spin(it debuted about a year later). However, someone who spun a dollar after two or three players tied at a dollar won an extra $1K.
