Eleven verses into the Quran, in 2:4, we are told that those who are aware of God believe not only in what was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) but also to the prophets before him. The Quran says that the Torah contains the judgement of God (5:43) and that in it is guidance and light (5:44). Moreover, the Quran says that in the Injeel, Gospel, there is guidance and light (5:46) and that the People of the Gospel should judge by what God has revealed therein (5:47). These verses suggest that the Torah, Psalms and Gospel were still intact at the time when the Quran was revealed ~1400 years ago. Additionally, the Quran indicates that Jews and Christians can find mention of the Prophet Muhammad in their scriptures, which also suggests the books are intact. The Quran says nobody can change the words of God (6:115, 18:27). Moreover, the Quran directs the Prophet Muhammad to consult the people of the scripture (21:7) for advice, and that wouldn't have made sense if their scriptures were unreliable. Dr. Shabir Ally cautions, however, that there's more to the story, as there are other verses Muslims cite to portray the previous scriptures negatively. More to come in an upcoming video.
