A suggestion, use the standard dual mass flywheel, it will help save synchros and other items that can be damaged by harmonics… only change if you are going for a max bhp build. Shifting and mechanical life of the engine and gearbox will be improved 👍

Regarding transmission jacks. I was just went through trying to find a reliable one. I settled on a Norco unit. Yes, they do make them in China, but they also have a US line if you want to spend/support made in US. Both are covered by their warranty. Additionally, they sell rebuild kits which most of the consumer grade jacks don't offer (once they leak that's it). Norco also offers different heads for the jack as well.

I once got myself pinned under a wrx gearbox. It was a do (push it to the side) or die (because I was alone). Learned to not get in the line of fire. Use a jack, dont be an idiot like me at 19. On subarus you simply cant line up the gearbox with the engine flat, the engine has to sit at an angle. That nissan is probably a similar issue that the engine has to sit at an angle.

Remove the prop shaft, loosen the motor mounts. Pitch the motor back a couple of degrees it will help. When putting the transmission in clock the transmission about 120° to clear the tunnel and then rotate it back. Or think of it this way if the transmission straight up and down rotate from 12 o’clock to 5 o’clock then once the input shaft gets into the clutch rotate it back to 12 o’clock again. Hope this helps.

They are not oil coolers like people think. They are oil warmers. They are used solely for cold start and emissions. Delete it. Just another failure point that isn't really required. If you don't believe me, just look at the design of it. It sits tuck hard in tight with the engine where it has zero air flow, it also has no cooling fins, but ribs for structural re-reinforcement
@Dirtyz1234

Yeah, ditched the warmer on my Subaru. It's more important to run proper oil viscosity during winter months in colder climates.

dont worry about the jack stand falling apart too much. could have been expensive though. i work at a hyundai dealership and out jackstand had the entire plate unthread from the ram as nobody put the locking nut on there. dropped a brand new 6 speed auto onto the floor from max height. luckily the way it fell only hit a mounting part on the corner and broke that off but the rest of the box was fine. i now check the plate everytime i use it.

subscriber here from saskatoon SK, not too sure if this is much difference compart to the R32 GTR. we had done so many times of the trans R&I, the easiest way for us was lower the front subframe, once the transmission reaches the maximum height with the trans jack then basically 3 of us hand bomb it on with the transmission turn 90 degree clockwise so the starter location will point downwards. also engine comes out from the top is easier then go down with the subframe and yes, with the axles removed.

Wish I had guys like you around when I was still wrenching. You both do some great work! Can't wait for this battle! Also just my personal opinion, the lighter flywheel will be better for slightly sharper throttle response, however the dual mass will help the transmission shift smoother and give it better drivability when not on the track.

I suggest you get a new crank bolt and replace the one you ‘ugger-duggered’, over torquing is as bad as under torquing, hopefully you haven’t stressed the nose of the crank. If the bolt is overstressed it can break. Put a new bolt in and borrow (or buy) a suitable torque wrench to hit the value. PLEASE!
