This is an awesome idea, I have done some checking myself and the ones that I have found are more geared to observatories. I'm sharing this video to a couple of groups I'm part of.

Thanks Ben, you have a new Sub! I am looking at what's on Amazon... FYI I would not bet that insurance would payoff if your scope rained on? Which company as State Farm was $150-$200 per year for coverage.

Thanks for watching, much appreciated! I use Allstate, It's an umbrella policy underneath my homeowner's policy. It cost $13 a year and it does cover me leaving my gear out in the rain , snow, theft or accidental damage..... hopefully I don't need to use it! Most people's including mine, regular homeowners policy covers up to $1,500 on cameras and anything that you attach to them such as a lens or a telescope under the regular policy. Hopefully you don't need to use either!

@@Astrolips2000 Thank you, yeah that's a great deal, I know State Farm is like $2.40 per $100 where I am. Allstate is better than the lower cost insurance.

Would it be possible to thread the dew strap underneath the sensors.

Might be difficult because of the wires hanging down but placing it around the outside of the box works well because then it will keep the whole box warm. This is crucial for the winter because if snow falls on it it will then melt. Did you make one?!Thanks for watching!

@@Astrolips2000 hi I made one using 9 of the rain panels and same sensor. I've placed a usb dew strap around the inside of the box . I'm based in the UK and it seems to work very well. I compared it to a commercial product from High Tech Astro and this seems to be more reliable. It would be great if NINA software allowed the use of the sensor.

Oh wow nice! I had no idea a commercial version is available! I've been using mine for well over a year with no issues and I get very heavy dew, works perfectly fine wrapped around the outside of the box. The alarm will go off every time I forget to turn the heater on. I'm sure inside works just fine too! Happy to hear you made one - Brian
