An excellent and comprehensive critical analysis. The kind of thinking that's sorely lacking amidst today's polarised politics and populist rhetoric. More power to you.

54:00 while i agree that throughout the world there is a general consensus on the economic model but there are still lots of debates. No system is fully capitalistic or socialist. So there is debate as to which fields should have how much of each. The issue is that these debates are very nuanced and its difficult to create a large political movement around such issues.

Uzair I have a question for you. I dont think this is the right platform for this topic but normally you do reply here. So for petroleum prices, is it possible that GOV can give targeted subsidy to low income groups. Lets say Gov authorizes multiple PSO stations in urban cities to provide petrol at lower price to rikshaws, bikes and Cars

Broo how is someone so different than the rest is practically the same?? Pmln was more so import oriented economics with barely any focus on exports.. but some how u r suppose to manipulate the currency into being pegged 100/$ not to mention tht at least 10 to 15 billion was sent overseas due to insane money laundering n corruption.. meanwhile PTI was all about export lead growth and floating the currency to independent market forces which kinda backfired towards the end as it was gonna take a much longer time for the forex reserves to control the currency which would cost 9 billion per annum.. currency devalued as imports of energy became very expensive due to global inflation

Not really impressed with any of your analysis. Mostly your guests are educationists. with a lot of theories. and they try to fit Pakistan and its socieconomic position in their own theories. with a lot of difficult vocabulary to impress..... no knowledge of on ground practices. no review of redtapism. no discussions on mafias. the current position of economic system we are following... no analysis of figures... etc. Sir... we need money to do all this... We are a bankrupt nation... YOUR guest always talk about long term projects rather than what is the immediate means of making some money when no one powerful around is ready to give up the status quo...

Around 25:00 , when Dr. Ilhan is talking about Judiciary's role. Can he answer just two questions? 1). When Article 5 and the letter were the basis of voiding the VNC then how come the Supreme Court didn't even bother to discuss the letter or investigate it? Doesn't it make the entire judgement, meaningless? Why not investigate and then take decision on the authenticity of the Govt's claims...punish if fake propaganda or uphold Speaker's decision if they find it to be true? 2). I don't know why its not as common knowledge as it should be....why the Courts opened at midnight? It wasn't for contempt of court....it was a pre-emptive move to stop the Executive (as rumoured) from denotifying the main man of Establishment. The petition document filed by certain Molvi Adnan Iqbal is a living proof.

Courts do not investigate. The cable (not a letter) was sent in early March. PTI had weeks to investigate and charge conspirators for crimes. It didn’t do either. Investigation and framing of charges is the job of the executive not the judiciary. As far as midnight opening is concerned, there was clear signal by the executive to NOT obey its orders, so it opened to hold violators in contempt of court and close the route for any unconstitutional moves at the time. That’s my interpretation.

@@Pakistonomy Re the second answer, another major reason being quoted is to pre-empt the (rumoured) denotification of the most powerful man in the country, that's backed by the Petition filed by certain Adnan Iqbal; to declare the order dated ___ issued by ___ as illegal, insignificant and void; as a 'get out of jail' free pass. I hope you have seen it by now. Could be doctored but seems much less likely. Considering the contents and that the date on it is of March 22, so it was ready beforehand, as a foreseen play.
@zaeem2893

@@Pakistonomy As for PTI investigating beforehand goes, I am not sure how you are supposed to investigate when the people who would investigate are the ones in question (considering the contents of letter are pretty much directed towards establishment). Plus I think (a biased assessment) PTI hung in, and was hoping to win the VNC battle.

@@zaeem2893 PTI had enough time to call for a committee to investigate. The National Security Council was there to investigate. When the PM of a country and his ministers are breaching the Constitution, then somebody needs to intervene! The only institution ton do that is Judiciary! And a govt that has lost the confidence of the parliament cannot keep hostage the country. Those who are moaning should digest that VONC is a Constitutional way, not unlawful. I think the subject of LAW should be taught in schools so Pakistanis who are ignorant understand the sacred importance of the Constitution of the country.

Good discussion. Personally, I don't think the establishment shifted from one party to the other. They just stopped backing Imran Khan. The role Saqib Nisar, NAB, and the DG ISI played in pulling down the PMLN government was blatantly evident. The PTI government just fell like a house of cards when the establishment "stopped changing their nappies", as Pervaiz Elahi put it.

@@ha-gq3ry I am not sure which corruption case you are referring to. My point is just that pragmatists of all stripes including the establishment got fed up of Imran Khan's "khalandraapan". But IK still has support among idealists, especially the youth. Things can get interesting over the next year.
