I always enjoy revisiting the Frankenstein novel. Mary Shelley does a wonderful job characterizing Adam (the monster) as an inherently gentle soul who does not wish harm on any conscious creature. His spiral into madness and his ultimate regret over his enraged actions are quite thought provoking, as well.

Well, chances are that the invisible man won't be a Cryptobiology episode, same for Mr Hyde and Gillman (unless ya count beings like Finfolk of folklore), as at least Frankenstein's monster was based on mythology with the whole alchemy history, and honestly imo, that seems so... bland, just some dude who's invisible. “But it can be stolen.” Uuuhhhh that’s ominous. Also what would it mean to “steal” the “fire of consciousness?” Did the creature have the mind of whoever the Good Doctor got the brain from? If not, how else could the creature lead the doc to the conclusion that it “could not be stoked by mortal hands?” Why didn’t it try to escape? If it had the mind of the donor and wanted to die, why would the doctor lead it into the cell with a rope? Why would the rope be necessary, and why starve him to death and not just use a shotgun? SO MANY QUESTIONS
@senioravocado1864
3 ай бұрын
I think that the doctor got lost ok what to do with his creation, like some fathers learning of their children thinking "I'm not ready" This conclusion of mine sort of also reflects the original Frankenstein, Adam, the "monster" was childlike in both innocence and actions while Frankenstein was the neglectful, cowardice father
@trishapellis
20 күн бұрын
The line "it can be stolen" is at least a reference to the subtitle of Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, "the modern Prometheus". Prometheus is the Greek god who stole fire from the gods to give it to humanity, hence "the fire of consciousness can be stolen". There may be more to it, but Thought Potato has confirmed this interpretation in a different comment. On a side note, Dr. Alaric's quote at 25:35 is a direct quote from Shelley's book.

"It's online! It's ONLINE!!!" Welcome back! I see that the series is now developing an internal continuity, and incorporating elements beyond just detailing the biology of the various monsters. A lingering effect of doing the "Witcher" episodes and other fiction-related vids, perhaps? I see not only Frankenstein in this video, but a little bit of "Herbert West - Reanimator" in regards to the use of a reviving fluid. It's interesting that the good doctor chose external pace makers to assist with the restarting of the heart and allowed that to be the only means by which keeping the heart going until the body took up the function again. The bio-electric scaffolds could've easily been used to assist with the contractions of any smooth muscle organs through regular pulses of light to stimulate nerve input to the sarcoplasmic reticulum, and perhaps would have put less strain on the body. Though the variable pressure approach for adapting the heart to the body was quite inspired! RL Note: Always love your content. Fantastic stuff!

I wonder how you'll cover the idea of Ghost, Poltergeists, Phantoms, Specters, etc. Considering that not living organism is capable of phasing through objects.

I like the subtleness of the implication that the scientist got at least a part of his miracle knowledge and equipment from a crashed alien ship. The red pin in the map and a 'project star fall', the gene editing machine of which we have no notes of where he got it from, the virus unlike any seen on Earth - though the latter could be a hint at some other pathogen like the vampire and lycan viruses, perhaps for another video to come, the author identifies both of those as related to known and existing viral strains like the parvoviruses, so the fact that he describes this one as completely unknown seems to hint at something else.

The red pin is at point pleasant, it's a mothman reference. Whether Alaric had some hand in the creation of the oversized owl is left up to guesswork.

@@tau-5794 May have had something to do with the giant cages, perhaps.
