@angrymuffinsb Time will tell if she's forgotten or not. Of the American Idol winners (and runners-up), only a few have any enduring success after the shows are forgotten for the next. No offence, but I'm not into Leona Lewis's style. A lot of people obviously are however, so who knows? The question is will anyone remember 25-40 years later. This song here, "On My Radio" is from 1979! It's now over 30 years-old and people still keep coming back to listen.

I am no expert, but we owe an awful lot to these bands in the 80`s such as the Selecter, Bad Manners, Madness, Fun boy three / The Specials etc.... a lot of the bands today take inspiration from previous generations, so the sound will live on in one way or another, just remember where it came from!

this was a part of a 'special' time in Coventry, you could go see top bands and a lot of local talent almost any night of the week.....Specials, Selector, and on and on, met a few other guys at the time from Bad Manners, Madness, and even Sting, Coventry was the place and now its just a 'Ghost Town' it was truly awesome for real music from real people, not like the 'pap' people call music now....memorys indeed....

@iveco321

@yanhunt maybe your missing the point - i was comparing x factor crap with selector, my point is most music today is manufactured and a majority of artists are shite - yes there were some shit artists during the 60's 70's and 80's but they were a minority and to some extent they were oddly entertaining , a bit like joe dolcie - you can't maunufacture real music , it comes from the heart and hardship not some over emotional, pretentious telly program
@nathg1990yt
11 жыл бұрын
Well kids still can get together and make good music, the fact good music isn't in the charts anymore makes littel differance to the escape and bringing together of people music creates. As for it uniting races, there was always pretty big racial tension at selecter gigs between skin heads and the ska boys, there gigs often ended with a punch up.

John Lewis is a big department store chain, they used this song on a tv advert so no hidden 2 tone/ska meaning, obviously some people liked the song + searched for it after hearing it in the advert. The Selecter were from Coventry England, the same town as the far bigger + better in my opinion The Specials. Hope this helps you rude boy !

unfortunately a majority of the younger generation wouldnt recognise a talanted singer song writer if he or she slapped the song sheet in their faces - stock aitkin waterman destroyed british music with their `factory` you can't manufacture good music , it has to eolve from the heart
