Few years ago the image hispanics people use to have fro U.S are they obesse people in scootters or lunatics with guns, but in the modern times, United States just gives the image of a lot of homless people using drugs in the streets, people with 4 jobs and still being to poor to live there and prefer emigrate to other countries in the south, gigantics cars just to overcompensate their egos, litteral ghettos just to not mix each other and lunatics with guns so, when i saw all these coments saying "i have the rigth of shoot that i don't like" i just laugh and say, good look

@@colingilmore7433 I’ll propose that it’s partly due to the diversity of (in particular) American society. So many lives create so many possible ways to look at the big picture. So many economical conditions, childhoods, schooling experiences (or lack there of), levels of knowledge and intelligence, personalities, privilege etc. create many types of people who, for example, don’t care about these problems, are completely ignorant to them, don’t understand how they’re being affected by them, aren’t affected by them, are too tired to face them, don’t want to face/understand them, want to use the problems with society to their benefit and support those who do, are benefiting from societal problems, or who put way too much faith in the establishment that aids or causes these problems to completely solve these problems. Plus, the media we consume have these same people contributing to them, which help spread unilluminating pro-status quo messages and keep people from realizing what’s going on. Bitter truths about reality really don’t make people feel good and are detrimental to those in power, and so aren’t (typically) widely marketed or are suppressed.

There was a big debate over flag burning in the early 90s and it popped up again in the early 2000s. They did try to get an amendment to ban burning the flag passed, but it failed pretty spectacularly. The whole "passing an amendment opens a floodgate" thing is pure nonsense. It's extremely difficult to pass an amendment for a reason and we've gotten a new amendment passed an average of every 20 years or so. And ofc just passing the amendment means nothing - it has to be ratified by 3/4ths of the states in order for it to go into effect. There's still amendments out there that have been passed, but haven't been ratified. It's amazing to me how little a lot of political commentators know about our political system and the constitution in general. And in this case, that includes the Simpsons - although they usually do it from a "isn't this whole thing ridiculous?" angle. We got the same kind of push-back when we were trying to get an Article V convention to get an amendment to ban money in politics and say that money isn't speech. It was ridiculous and half of the politicians we were talking to had clearly never even read the article in question. Well, I say "were" that effort is still ongoing. I've just kinda given up personally after engaging with the politicians in my state.

When they made fun of HW Bush they were able to creatively make jokes that pointed fun at him, while also making it seem like more of a light jab than an actual attack, when they started Trump jokes in the early 2000s it was in the same vein. But after becoming president, it seemed more like an actual unfunny attack rather than light jabs that could make an audience laugh along.

The US’s inability to have long term nuclear waste storage is a result of political thumb-twiddling rather than an actual inability to make it happen, and no, nuclear waste is not dumped in waterways.
