Thank you for this history! I'm a Realtor in OC (worked out of an office in HB for a while) and have had the "pleasure" of educating some clients and interested others (esp. when Black Lives Matter raised awareness) about Redlining and racially restrictive covenants in real estate documents. This piece of history is new to me. Thanks so much for taking time to add this detail as a follow up to your sister chat.

I love sister 2 sister heart 2 heart convos - leave it to your sister to put your personal life on blast :-) I loved the convo! an important convo to have with little ears seeming not to hear but are listening. I feel like I wasted so much time in school learning about history that was not important to me and had nothing to do with me. At one point, up and down the east coast blks had land around beaches (in Maryland the Chesapeake Beach area was historically blk owned) were owned/populated by blks but they were pushed out or duped out (not understanding the value and selling for cheap) of those areas by big developers - even in Ocean City, MD and Rehoboth, DE (there were blk communities (some are still there but with the pressure of development many have sold) - Charleston SC and the islands down there and off the coast of Georgia even in FL everywhere it has been deemed valuable to live blks have been forced out with violence or laws that result in land been taken away and now it's happening through gentrification like we've seen in Harlem and now taking place in Washington DC.

Haven't made it through the video. I'm a dog groomer and I just had to stop and complement you on how nice teddy looks! It's exponentially clear that you spend real effort to keep him in good shape. It's pretty uncommon to see a dog with that much coat and it's not covered in pee/mud and with matting you can see from across the parking lot 😂❤.

Yes, please do! The Central Valley was once a main source of agriculture, a main artery for the railroad, and oil production (Bakersfield), very interesting stuff!
