Thank you for this instruction! I'm an adult, going on my first ski trip this weekend (I've always wanted to try skiing, but never got the chance!), and this will give me a little start so I won't look TOO 'green'!! :)

How far forward do I need to look? I've been told the same thing by an instructor, that I need to focus on a point downhill - but if I focus very far, how do I adjust to bumps/slush/crud on the slope? Just by keeping knees soft? Or avoiding slushy/cruddy terrain? (this is hard to do as any run becomes like this after a couple of hours from the opening in small resorts)

I always thought skis turned through shifting weight, not by twisting feet.

Careful here nobody has ever consciously flexed just their ankles. When some part of your body moves forward and puts pressure on the front of the boot you might feel your ankle flex but really I get no feedback from my ankles just the front of the boot. I'm betting that pushing buttons on flexing ankles will probably just lock up your foot which ultimately prevents you from tipping a ski very much.
