This is the song to have the most profound effect on me in my life, ushering in my adulthood, having heard it at the age of 16 at the moment when everything changes. Your childhood social structure falls away, half your friends have disappeared, you have few real life skills and you have to find your place in the world but you're fantasies of being naturally popular have failed to come into fruition. You're and introvert, not in the first league and socialising and romance do not come naturally to you. You have a sudden awareness of time and mortality. Your emotions are haywire. You have never even had to think about your 'life' before. Most other music people are drawn to at this age invariably offers an escapist fantasy existence, complete with dress code and alluding to a lifestyle which doesn't actually exist in the real world. It may sound like a punch in the face to remind you of your failings all this in a song though the first thing you really need to do to fix them is develop your sense of self-awareness, reflect and start the long process of discovering who 'your' people are and what you actually enjoy. As ever, Morrissey laces the truth bombs with laughter while Joyce especially drives the point home with those pounding, stuttering drum riffs.

I love to see how other people relate to The Smiths'/Morrissey's lyrics. Great reaction and analysis as always, Nick!

Absolutely, Reel Around the Fountain is beautiful. I don't want to admit it, because I love all of their songs so much, for so many different reasons (except for Golden Lights, which I try to pretend doesn't exist!). However, I think Reel Around the Fountain would be the song I would choose, if I really had to pick one.

You can react to Mark Kozalek's stuff especially Red House Painters debut album, his writing was inspired by Morrissey also Suede, Jeff Buckley, Arcade Fire, Low, Beautiful South and Belle & Sebastian

Those sessions that appear on Hatful on Hollow album are more raw and the rhythm section is much more punchy than the self titled 1st LP

I’ve always loved the lyrics to this one. I think there’s still a few Smiths instrumentals that you haven’t reacted to. ‘Money changes everything’ & ‘The Draize train’ Both great tracks but I don’t know if that’s something you want to do more of, considering your such a fan of Morrissey’s vocals/lyrics.

I mean imagine if Morrissey come out commercially with half the bite and energy this particular single contained. Wouldn't that be something. Instead of the same old Unfortunate B~ Side patter . Just saying. Morrissey could be relivent if he cared enough to re~recall the Live Version releases inplace of the old Bloated Studio interpretations. And to reguarding this particular Album and Single. It will live fore ever.

This is one of Morrissey's ambiguous lyrics, there has long been the understanding that Morrissey is gay. But he has never directly come out as being so. So you could say that Morrissey is playing with ambiguous language here. Another excellent reaction matey. See ya next time. HappiGoth x

Could you react to A night like this- The Cure. No one has reacted to this song on KZitem yet and it would complete the Head on The Door album on your channel almost I think.

How Soon Is Now? is the one I listen to most, but I do listen to several Smiths songs when I'm just listening to music. They've really become one of my favourite bands.
