One of the biggest places of grief in my mothering was realizing that I wanted to give my children something I never got. And that meant that I had to cultivate for myself something I needed but never received, so that I could provide it to my own kids. It can feel like a really lonely place.
Sometimes these sorrows also feel like irritation, the things that bug us. I suggest starting with these irritations, things that maybe have enough energy in them to pull you all the way through articulating them.
Start small before you go big.
