I read a lot of the Haitians that were stuck in Tijuana ended up staying there. Plenty of Haitians work in the factories, call centers and otherwise living a good life there these days. A good amount ended up just settling there instead of trying to getting into the USA

I've been there. The lady that owned it back then was named Rosa. There were lots of Haitians there that day. My GF at the time interviewed them and kept in touch. Her family is from Haiti from Brooklyn, NY. We ate Hatian fried chicken and Maiz Muléh

I was stationed in San Diego in the mid 70's I used to tour friends from barracks down to Tijuana on weekends .some of my friends were southern Rebels big corned dudes. They loved the night life there especially the tacos. Some didn't even know what a taco was back then. Me being a Mexican American they would always ask me When's we going down to Mexico, in there Southern Accent... Best times....

I wish I had seen your video before I visited Tijuana a few weeks ago. Your video showed a lot of different neighborhoods that I could have visited. Now I know what to do in Tijuana besides just staying in Zona Rio.

I love tacos al pastor & carne asada. When you get a chance... try pozole. I am sure you will love it. I lived in Mexico City 10 years & Tijuana 2 years. The food is the best!

There's a Haitian dish that's a bit similar to pozole. We call it Chaka, (Tchaka) but it's much closer to the Cape Verdean Cachupa. I've never had pozole, so that's going to go on the list of foods to make! 😊

Glad the refugees have found refuge, on any side of the border. I went to mercado Hidalgo and some Hatians have learned Spanish and joined the produce commerce. Haitians know how to hustle.

Some have also learned Spanish prior to their arrival to Tijuana. Remember they share a island with The Dominican Republic.

Also Checkout playas de Tijuana. Border wall goes into the ocean, which is painted with murals. Lots of street vendors on the beach: churros, fruit stand, candy etc.

He gave you the birria consome but the ultimate is to get the birria taco and then dip it in the birria soup. They gave you half the experiance by giving you the tortillas to make your own from the consome which is still good.

I live in San Diego, I cross the border just for the food at least 2-3 times per week. So many fusions of food and different cultures from all over Mexico. Plus now you add Haitian flavors, Japanese, Chinese, Mediterranean and so much more! Absolutely love it! Keep it going Ace, head to Rosarito and Ensenada now since you’re so close. Only 30 mins to one hour away to get to both places.

La Coahuila back in the day would be full of American military members. Hong Kong and Adelitas. A Navy service veteran from Oklahoma once bought us free beers all night at Adelitas. He was in love with the señoritas. 🤣 Those were the days. Now service members are prohibited from partying in TJ. They go to downtown San Diego and the Gaslamp. TJ was the place to be 20 years ago.

It's not a Mexican hot dog without peppers, onions and jalapeno all grilled The condiments were available but you won't know unless you're told....next time ask for peppers and onions

Always have problems finding Birria de Chivo in Tijuana. Birria de res is everywhere. But chivo (goat) is difficult to hunt down.
