Yeah I understand how she might want them, but I want my bald spot to grow in. Doesn't mean it will. Tbh, I know a lot of women desire long hair, even if I don't understand it, but her hair does look good. I don't get why she's so mad. Cool it felt impersonal. So what. No less than 3 peoples time was spent on this, even if all the product was free. If someone fixed my mess up, I hope they make bank while doing something nice for me.

I was thinking the same thing. I am NOT a hair stylist but I dye and cut my own hair and my partners because, we have haircuts at home. Bleaching your hair compromises the integrity of your hair, putting extensions on extremely damaged hair seems like you will forever have short ,fried hair, broken hair. Whenever I need a break I dye it a dark color cut it short and don't touch it! I also usually have a pixie cut which is easier to manage. But this is just my thought process as a novice with no training.

If her natural hair was weak, brittle and damaged it won't be able to support hair extensions. Regardless of if they are glued, taped, beaded, sewn, clipped or combed in... if there is not sufficient foundation to secure the extensions to.... then you can't get extensions.

This is what I was thinking as well. I can see both sides of this though. She didn't get what she expected, so she was disappointed which is fair, but I do feel like he tried to give her what she wanted without the extensions. Without the length. She got pretty much the same coloring style as the pictures that she sent. Without the availability of the extensions there really wasn't another option besides a bob. Her saying that she doesn't want a bob haircut really limited her options and she kind of set herself up for failure. I'm kind of wondering if I'm the only one that thinks that color makes her look older though.

Yes. This, right here was my first thought. Her hair couldn't have withstood that process. As for the colour restoration, listen it would have taken a magic wand to get perfect results, but what she did end up with, looked fabulous. She should be sticking with dark hair anyway, it suits her beautiful eyes and skin. Also, she couldn't afford extensions herself but expected him to foot the bill for that on top of the first class tickets, hotel, and car service? Like someone else pointed out, extensions are a huge upkeep and that's not cheap either. I'm not really sure what to think about the stylist himself except, he's fifty? I demand to know his skincare routine unless that's just filters making him look that flawless.

I'm a hairstylist and half way through this video, and there is NO WAY id put extensions on someone who's hair is spaghetti compromised! She could either have long hair, and not risk it by repeatedly chemically treating it at home, or go ahead and experiment with the understanding she may lose it all. Not BOTH! If she wanted long hair, she should have treated her hair accordingly. No wonder the extension company didn't want to work with her, because they KNOW that extensions shouldn't be applied to the hair she has, they wouldnt have looked good or lasted long, and only compromised her hair even further because it was in such bad shape. There is a specific type that could have been used, but she would have to pay out for that, and since she wasn't even willing to invest in color in the salon... Budget is also part of a consultation. She showed thos pics she sent, but he should have recorded their consultation because EVERYTHING can change during the consultation, and if she didn't agree to the goal, she should have said no and took the flight home. I've had consultations where we completely change what the goal is, but that's completely discussed and agreed upon beforehand. (For example, a client wanted a balayage but she had used a metallic color, so there was no way to safely lightwn her hair. We rehabbed her hair completely and worked together for two years, THEN we got her to her goal. I still have that client and we have that amazing trust that is essential to a successful client/stylist relationship.) She is also making money on this drama? He isn't in the right either, and I agree it's patchy and whatnot, so in my opinion they're both in the wrong. It's just frustrating to me that she spent do much time harping on how she wanted extensions and thats what she was mad about. I know numerous people told her in the comments that extensions wouldn't really be possible unless she was willing to invest in a stylist that specializes in the extensions that would actually work. Maybe it's because she's obnoxious. Maybe its because she says how she hates the comparisons while tagging her video with those same comparisons. Maybe it's because she's so ill informed even now, even with so many giving her good information in her comment section. I don't know, maybe it's the totality of it all, but in my opinion she's even more in the wrong.

Yeah I agree with a lot of this. I think social media virality can bring out the worst in people in the midst of an embarrassing situation. I realize this was all framed for the public eye but I feel the worst of both is being amplified. I can understand why she didn’t want to say she didn’t like it with the vibe and with a camera in her face. That’s a lot of pressure. And I think her being young and embarrassed and being unhappy with the end result has been egged on after the fact into a bit of defensive brattiness. I think Alfredo had a right to make money off of it and all, but I feel he did not really communicate well enough with her about realistic expectations. And he honestly could have handled this prior to the video and explained why they had to go with a bob or say “well things fell through because I could not in good conscience give her what she really wanted without further damaging her hair and I don’t feel it was worth it for either of us.” So yeah she’s being kinda bratty and emboldened by pot stirrers. And he’s acting a little too victimized when he was the expert with plenty of years in the business who did not do enough to cover his own butt or to help her understand why he maybe couldn’t give her what she had fully imagined and just keeps sticking on “but we did all this for free and she initially said she loved it! 😢” and not really understanding why she was so hesitant to complain at first because I think she WANTED to be grateful but heck I would probably be embarrassed too if I’m reading a bunch of comments of people laughing at the result. And I’m sure he was well intentioned but yeah I’d be a little defensive if people were mocking what I was able to do with severely damaged hair. I don’t think either of them are clearly terrible or villainous. It just seems like a miscommunication and some embarrassment that got poked by an audience that is always hungry for scandal.
@Lampetia
6 ай бұрын
I think I’m also giving her a little grace because she is young and didn’t really think to do things like record the consultation. I mean it doesn’t seem he really did either. And after being flown out there it would be really hard to just say no instead of cross your fingers and hope for the best because whether she did and hated it or whether she fully said no and left without a haircut, she was gonna be labeled ungrateful. However, she is responsible for continuing it into further drama and bringing up honestly irrelevant points to paint him as financially predatory. Nah. He just didn’t do enough as a professional to help her understand the process because I think they were both caught up in a fairy tale ending. That happens sometimes unfortunately. Even experts mess up here and there.

Next, extensions are quite expensive, so I understand him not wanting to pay for them out of pocket. She could have asked if she could pay for them. Finally, she had every right to say, “Thank you for everything, but a bob isn’t what I wanted. Can we do something else?” Then be prepared to pay for it. Also I’ve been a model for MUAs and hairstylists before. When you agree to model, they tell you upfront that they will style you to their discretion. Stylist here !! Finally my expertise can come in handy lol So look, a hard part of the job is sometimes having to tell clients what they’re wanting is really not feasible with what they have, her hair looked so damaged putting extensions in it would absolutely do more harm than good. Especially if it’s still over processed at parts then the hair will just snap off. Hair is a protein and when it’s dead it’s dead, all you can do is your best until it grows back out. We’re professionals, not magicians. EsPECIALLY if they aren’t paying for their service. She couldn’t afford them for a reason, and I’m sure he couldn’t afford purchasing a whole set to basically give away if he didn’t get that sponsorship. I do feel for her not feeling great with what she got, but it is a decent job with what she’s given him to work with and hopefully it’ll teach her moving forward that if she wants her long hair she has to take care of it.

I came back after finishing the video, I can see him being unprofessional on social media but he’s right he is a business, and he has to act as such, but we’re also still in the customer service industry so she is completely responsible for speaking up if she doesn’t like anything so they could have fixed it for her, we’re here to make y’all happy, and if you’re not happy we didn’t do our job, so there is definitely a way to kindly say “I don’t like this can we adjust it” without hurting our feelings !! That goes for you too MARKIE 😂

@fernthegreenfairy she was apologetic and offered to fix it, free of charge. I was kind of hesitant since part of the issue was that she cut it shorter than she was supposed to. A little background: my hair is textured and stretches when wet. I warn anyone who cuts my hair about this and let them know to please not cut past a certain length since it'll be at least 2 inches shorter dry. I also make sure to bring multiple reference photos so they see exactly what I want and communicate as best I can, but for some reason people don't listen to me and just do whatever. It's made it very hard to trust people with my hair. Anyway, I brought in a new reference photo since now my hair was too short to do with it what I wanted in the first place. She started cutting and cutting and cutting. I did mention she seemed to be cutting more than I thought would be needed, but she cut some more (i dont recall her response). (I have anxiety and have a hard time speaking up when uncomfortable so I try not to be confrontational.) Once she was done the whole back of my head was flat since there was now only a couple of inches left and she'd barely touched the side, so like a reverse mullet 🤦♀️. I did tell her it didn't look anything like the reference photo and she said "well your hair is too thick to do that style." I didn't say anything, but was thinking "why didn't you say that before cutting?!!" Instead I could feel my eyes tearing up and just left. I was so angry. Never went back. Sadly I have a lot of bad experinces with getting my hair cut. I should mention I also have really poor eyesight (-14.25 left and -15 right eye) so I can't see when they start making mistakes and don't catch it until it's too late. It took a couple of years for the back of my hair to grow long enough to make even with the front of my hair. Now if I get my hair cut I just ask for them to trim the ends, never ask for anything stylized or fancy.

And then I treat it with an hair mask. I have fine thin hair (typical scandinavian hair type) and I rarely need to use conditioner on my bleached hair. It takes months sometimes to get to my final result bc I let my hair rest between bleaches if I need more than 1. Extensions are HORRIBLE for hair, but if she was supposed to get them and at the last minute he said he won't because the company isn't sponsoring it (an accusation with he notably did not address), that's not really about what's healthy or not, it's about backing out of an agreement. I do believe at the very least she could have acknowledged that her hair looks better than before - that's blatantly obvious, patchy or not, before saying that she did not get what she wanted. "I am grateful for the improvement, and especially at no cost, but I did in fact communicate that I wanted something different." That would've been a classier way to respond, but it's easy to encourage people to be the bigger person when you aren't the one who's absolutely furious over someone telling lies about you. 🤷♀️

Regardless of his intentions, she didn't have to pay a dime and had her horribly damaged hair made presentable for free (which, if I'm understanding, her hair was only messed up because SHE messed it up in the first place). Even if he made money off those videos, they didn't come from HER pocket. When he told her he wouldn't or couldn't do the extensions, she had every right in the world to stand up and leave. It's like she has a couple good points, but to 1) call it exploitation is so dramatic, that girl doesn't know what it means to be truly exploited, and 2) start off saying both privately and publicly that she liked the hair, only to turn around and call it ugly when she's understandably being told she's being ungrateful? Such a bad look, honestly embarrassing. If she wanted the extensions that desperately, she could have done what every other normal person in the world does and waited until she could afford them herself. She chose to go and get it done for free, in my opinion that means you have to be pretty much okay with whatever result you get because that person is giving you their time at no cost to you. I just couldn't imagine fcking up my own hair that badly, having someone offer to fix it for free, getting a result that is INFINITELY better than the shit I had on my head before, and then having the audacity to complain about the final product because they didn't choose the more expensive option I wanted. Her face didn't make them any money they hadn't lost by flying her out and giving her a free treatment - I guarantee that there were paying clients he could've used his time on. If she wanted extensions and didn't want the bob, she had the option of refusing the treatment there and then or offering to pay for the extensions herself (since she got flown out and would probably have received the installation for free). I don't think either of them handled this situation particularly gracefully, but Taylor needs to take some personal responsibility here - she had every opportunity to avoid a haircut she didn't want.

If she wants extensions she can still get them and it will cost way less because now her hair is in a healthier state the salon will have less work to do. I can understand being disappointed but be disappointed in private. It's rude if someone gifts you something then to go and put out publicly like yea it's not what I wanted and i don't really like it. Even if you say it "nicely" that's still hurtful to someone, even more so when you have been telling them how much you loved it. I understand that he may have made money off this but so did she. He also uses his time and money to help other people. If she had handled it differently all of this wouldn't have happened. Like he said she could have mentioned the extensions again that day but she didn't. Now she's flown all the way back home and it's like okay what you want to be flown back out again for free and put up in a hotel for free again? Hi Markie, I’m a person that did a similar thing to Taylor. I’m not a professional so I’m just talking from experience. A couple years back I went blonde (I have natural black hair) BY myself. It actually wasn’t bad, but the thing is with going to blonde from black to begin with is very difficult. Two, blonde is very hard to maintain. It constantly needs upkeep (toning, dying new hair that grows in, etc). After a while I got tired of it and did various colors. ALL colors. Blue, pink, purple…and then I went back to blonde. MY HAIR WAS FRIED. As expected. I’m Latina so I also had a beautiful natural hair curl pattern. My curl pattern was also GONE. My hair would not curl at all anymore. So I had to make the unfortunate decision to cut all my hair off and start anew. I was sad but hey. I enjoyed having all the colors but it really damaged my hair. I accepted the consequences. Fwiw, the pixie cut didn’t look all that bad! 😅 The point of this, as others have stated, that Taylor MADE the choice to do this. She should have known the consequences and she shouldn’t have asked for extensions knowing they would be so expensive. I don’t think that Taylor is legitimate in her claims either. She apparently liked it at first and now that people’s feathers are ruffled she’s joining the bandwagon and trying to get publicity and the free shit she wanted.

This is literally my story. Except I ended up chopping off my hair because the damage was so bad it got a very bad knot in the back overnight that I could not undo. Regardless, it was kind of fun starting from scratch but it’s been 2 years and I’m just barely past shoulder length. So I’m starting to get frustrated. I haven’t done any treatments of any kind. I wanted straight virgin hair again because I haven’t for 15 years. Any tips on healthy ways to help it grow without hair masks? Because tbh I hate hair masks so I’m hoping there’s another way without that or biotin supplements. Those might be the only ways though besides patience.

My two cents is that I think a lot of this is that her and her audience don't know how to keep expectations in check for certain things and don't know when things go too far. Im thinking that she initially wanted extensions when asked to come for the free hair care and it was open as an option at that time but was potentially found to not be an option when they got there so she chose a different thing with possibly getting extensions later. Remember her hair ruined at this point and she seems to not have had the funds to upkeep extensions regardless so she may have backed down from the extensions on their suggestion while there. So once that is done and the first videos are done with her audience going off on how she should have had free extensions done Im assuming the hairdresser was commenting likely on the fact that she likely didn't push the extensions as hard as they were. After which, bolstered by her community she feels resentful and then 180s and starts throwing out silly accusations to make herself seem like the victim her audience is making her out to be. Like they are both influencers tmk, there must have been a built in expectation that content would be made out of it. And they flew her out for free, paid for her hotel, and fixed her hair that she destroyed for free. Why is them having some ability to make money a problem there? Like poor baby you got flown out and treated as a special guest with your hair fixed for free, how COULD THEY?! Can understand not being perfectly happy that her hair didn't end up the complete way she wanted but all of this was done on someone else's dime fixing her mess and she is going on about how "used" she is because another influencer may have made some money during this whole thing. "How dare he make any money on this free thing he did for me" just sounds incredibly spoiled.

There is so much damage to her hair before her styling. I don’t think any stylists who is worth it would put extensions in hair that wouldn’t last since they are so expensive and can really damage the hair. I don’t think he would want the label of destroying her hair or being the reason it falls out, or he couldn’t justify taking the expense of funding the extensions of someone who has already destroyed their hair. She got a free trip and nice hair. She shouldn’t have endorsed the hair if she wasn’t ok with it. Extensions are so expensive no matter if you already have them they are still an expense that has been paid for she has no idea how much work/money goes into them. From what I can tell, "they" (the salon? sponsors?) paid for her trip out there, so she may have felt - maybe it was even suggested - that she had to at least go through with something for the video at that point. It really does seem like this is a case of miscommunication, misunderstanding, and A LOT of people on the internet egging BOTH sides on. So as someone who's worked in salons, I do see both sides, but I think the big thing here is that Alfredo seems to not have set Taylor's expectations properly. Part of a good consultation is making sure you and your client are on the same page. Like, if you know she wants extensions, and you for any reason cannot do that at that time, you have a responsibility to make sure the client understands that it can't happen, and why. Stylists need to understand (and usually do) that clients don't always know how to word what they want, and its up to you to ask them questions to figure it out together. A really robust consultation could've solved this problem before it started, and could do so in most salon problems.

Ummm her request for extensions is literally not possible with damaged hair like that. It will cause more damage. He should have advised this to her in advance. Not sure if he did or not. Her hair needs to grow out more and become more healthy again or its not gonna work. Its not actaully possible to save damaged hair either. All you can do is prevent more damage. She needs to keep it short for a bit unfortunately and it will progressively get better. People who are mad inclduing his client dont understand this was basically all he could do. Her hair was done for free and she was flown out. Im not sure what complaint she can even have her. Tbh it is her fault. This is honestly a tale as old as time and id bet money he told her how it would be in the call. Her hair legit looks so much better too! He did great. Complaints are valid when you have paid for a service not for hand outs though. It should have been private for sure. Even if his only reasoning for not doing the extensions is because he couldnt get it sponsored is totally fair and valid is totally fair and valid too because extensions are like $800 on average. When I worked at a Salon extensions were $3K and that was BEFORE the hourly charge for sitting in the chair. And that was in 2005. I think Alfredo should have nixed the extension idea and made it very clear that he would do the cost-effective route from the very beginning. That said, if he used the idea of extensions to get her to come to LA, that's disingenuous. This whole thing could have been avoided if both parties had been real work eachother.

Barber here: PLEASE tell the stylist/barber how you feel about the hair. There is a way to be nice about it. "It did end up pretty short right here, I was kind of going for *this* look. maybe we could leave it longer next time! :-)" (even not actually intending on coming back) They're just going to keep thinking they're doing Peachy and keep fucking up other people's hair. Even if you don't want to say anything then, send an email, and they might offer you a free haircut. What's even better with that is that many places offer education or help if one of their employees is having trouble with certain things- a stylist/barber isn't usually going to get in trouble for needing to improve in some areas.

My issue is how all her allegations have nothing backing up what she's saying other than the photos she sent. It's all just her word

watching this after my hair appointment lol i pay around $900 for my extensions alone. and another $450 when it’s brand new to install. $80 every 6-8 weeks to move them up. Even more if I need a color. That’s a huge ask to have someone cover for you. But Alfredo should’ve said “It’s too expensive for free or I can’t get the hair I need in time” but regardless to ask for free extensions is wild.

I've had damaged hair (almost as bad as hers). I've wanted extensions, (THEY COST SO MUCH!), but I think the difference is I see my hairstylist similar to a tattoo artist. If something is overall going to be bad for me no matter how much I want it I am likely going to take their advice. He could've explained things in that way, she could've been more open to the possibility that she would have to wait for healthier hair for this, and over all - their communications should've been behind closed doors. Ultimately, I can understand that it is her fault that her hair is that damaged, and that's why he wasn't ok with putting the extensions in, but it never needed to be said. Just explained in a compassionate/educational way.

Yeah, it never should have been discussed in public. How ridiculous is it that this was caused by internet a-holes who felt it was important that they sh!t on the gorgeous hair Alfredo hooked Taylor up with. Instead of saying "looks great!" and moving on, they stuck their self-important noses where they didn't belong for the sole purpose of spreading CRITICISM & negativity on an otherwise positive & happy video. Those people suck. So. Hard.

He probably did address these things behind closed doors, imo. No shot he'd have a salon and 3 decades of experience otherwise. There's a huge "honey, your hair can't handle that right now" shaped hole in the middle of this story, lol. I wonder what his paying clientele is like.

She got free first class airfare, free hotel, free hair care that was customized to her hair’s needs. Extensions as far as I know can be too heavy on severely damaged hair. It’s amazing that her hair had any sort of life in them after the treatments (if you see when she shakes her head at first none of her fried hair moves but afterwards it moves) It sucks that she has “short” hair when she didn’t want that but sometimes you have to choose between healthy and long hair

Also “they used the shit out of me”….you didn’t pay for ANYTHING. In the social media world this is a very standard thing (give and take). I don’t even blame him for not wanting to use products if he wasn’t getting paid bc it’s not like she was paying him for anything. I think this is just another instance of being a clout demon and not understanding how social media “good deeds” work Edit: also her saying that he’s gonna make “bank” which is around $5k….girl…..he is a popular stylist in Los Angeles. He probably makes $5k in a normal day just from regular clients

Don’t they …. Have cameras inside of the salon and he could just prove he was tending to her? What a weird drama situation. I am one of those people though who say “I love it” and write in my journal “I hope I don’t look like a clown”

I’m quite a people pleaser sometimes. Every time I get my haircut my hairdresser asks me after the haircut if I like I always say I really like it, even though I just got like less then 5cm cut of my hair. My real feelings are it’s ok because my hair is basically the same because I just got couple of centimeters trimmed of my hair. I look and feel the exact same way before and after I got the haircut
