With the death of tourism everything else died. Thanks to the lack of the ferry coming from Maine. I didn’t mind going to St John NB but a lot of older folks did

I am sure once covid is over and the ferry starts running again things will turn around. The entire province has taken a hit because of the lack of tourists, hopefully 2022 is a better year.

I've lived in the Maritimes my entire life (and most of it in Nova Scotia) and somehow I've still never been to Yarmouth!! I definitely need to make it down there someday. Thanks for bringing us along! :) Sad that a lot of the stores are boarded up.

Hi, thanks for visiting Yarmouth. It's a great place. I live here. I was born here, adopted and raised in the US. I moved back a few years ago. I believe at the street level there is a sign with the history of Frost Park. That is actually a very old cemetery that is full just many of the gravestones have been removed when it was turned into a park. You should see Frost Park this time of year all lite up for Christmas, it's beautiful. The ferry was supposed to run this last season but was cancelled due to Covid. Last year the ferry didn't run either but that was due to politics on the US side. The town of Bar Harbor wanted to buy the ferry terminal and the previous governor wasn't having it. So work couldn't start to remodel the terminal. The new governor let the sale go thru and the work began right away. It was done in time for this years season and tickets were actually being sold till covid shut things down. You were so right when you mentioned the economics of the town. It has suffered but we just had an election with a few new council members voted in who are rather progressive and want change and are making it happen. Lobster season runs from the last Monday in November till the end of May so that is why you saw so many traps. Unfortunately, just a couple days ago a fishing boat and crew were lost to the sea just off Digby, about an hour from here, so more names will be going onto the memorial.

Thanks for the information. Yarmouth and surrounding area are beautiful. I hope in 2021 Yarmouth bounces back economically, it's unfortunate how covid has resulted in so many businesses closing across the province.

@@olamideadedeke8097 There was word recently that the town of Yarmouth is going to buy the old high school and turn it into apts. I don't know how long that is going to take though. We really need more housing here in the worst way.
