@fabiennedenberg4777

I suppose that depends on your definition of positive. To me personally, the idea of 'positive' is too much related to an invalidation of the very real experience of suffering and a focus on the idea that God will bring good things/events into your life just because He is good and thus must bring good things, which is just not always the case. We are not promised paradise on this earth. Sometimes people suffer and only more suffering follows. But we are promised that God's personal presence is with us in the midst of it all to give us peace and we can rejoice in knowing Him. That comfort and trusting God is also warmth to me. I've learned that often times its wiser and more compassionate to just listen silently when someone's in pain and offer your presence and a shoulder to cry upon, a comforting experience or practical help, which again is warmth rather than positivity, which tends to focus more on positive affirmations that can feel like empty words and invalidation of pain. To me, warmth is a loving presence while positivity can be isolating. But that's all just my thoughts:)

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow (1 Peter 1:10-11). The prophets of old, inspired by the Holy Spirit, testified of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. Christ already suffered, which means we’re now in the days of His glory. You don’t need to suffer or think that suffering should be a part of your life. The suffering ended with Jesus. He suffered for you to have the transcendent life. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” No Christian needs to suffer any more in sickness, disease, penury and defeat. You don’t need to “pay” any additional price outside what Christ already paid for you to enjoy an extraordinary life and be all that God ordained you to be.

God loves you, and He has qualified you to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. It’s your heritage in Christ to live your best to the glory of God. He didn’t create you to suffer. When Jesus hung on the Cross, He said, “...It is finished...” (John 19:30). He announced the end to suffering for all humanity. Today, anyone who believes in Him and accepts His vicarious sacrifice is automatically ushered into the life of glory. No wonder Peter, by the Spirit, said in 2 Peter 1:3 that we’ve been called to glory and virtue. Hallelujah! His sacrifice was enough. He came, lived and died; He was buried and raised back to life, and He ascended. Now He’s seated in the place of dominion, power and great glory; and we’re seated together with Him. All He wants now is for you to enjoy the glory that resulted from His suffering. There’s nothing more you need to do beyond what He already did. Hallelujah!

So many Christians don’t know how to just be there for people. Mourn with those who mourn, weep with those who weep, rejoice with those who rejoice. It’s about following the lead of the person experiencing those emotions, not trying to force them to suppress their feelings.
@fabiennedenberg4777

As someone who studied psychology, we were always told to reflect people's emotions and validate them. Someone's thinking may be off-kilter, but emotions are never wrong; they just are. Once we stop repressing and avoiding them, we can actually deal with them in a more beneficial/healthy way. Negative emotions fester in darkness but find relief when brought to the light of awareness. Oftentimes, the best cure is just to make someone feels seen/heard. People have an incredible resilience to heal if we only just hold loving space for them.

This reminds me of Proverbs 25:20 "Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart." Empathy is a very much needed thing here in this life, maybe even in the next to come. We are all lonely, all the time, even if it may not seem like it, and there is nothing better than for someone to reach out and relate to you. This video rings true, and points out a very serious problem, thank you.

SO GLAD someone finally said this somewhere public like KZitem! Its all fine and good to try and have Biblical joy in life, but you are so right that too many churches today try too hard to spin all negative emotions into some sort of positivity and not allow for ANY negativity EVER. In America in particular, I think it comes from an inability to deal with reality that has slowly built up in our country over the years, but thats just a theory. In any case, God gave us sadness, anger, fear, etc. to help us navigate the world around us, and acting on these feelings is not ALWAYS sinful and unhealthy if it is done right according to the Word. Thank you for this! 🙏

Yes, I think a lot of Christians preach to others that we'll have this everlasting joy on earth and it's just not true. Trials and tribulations are most definitely a thing and some go through a lot more than others. The best thing you can do is be there for one another in trying times. Instead if trying to tell them that things will get better, because sometimes they don't. Let them know that even in the storm God is with them, and you are there for them too. I was in a Pentecostal church very briefly (like, 3-4 Sundays) and I hit a rough patch. They posted on FB about an upcoming series they'd preach on, on "Joy". I commented: "Is it appropriate to only focus on the good, and not even acknowledge that sometimes life is difficult?". I received a private message from someone who worked at that church: "I read your comment as you being against us as a congregation. I hope that's not the case." followed by being berated for "allowing the feeling of sadness" to take up too much of my mental space. I deleted my comment and have not set foot in that church again. I had noticed a focus in that church on "Let the joy of the Lord be your strength!". Fair enough, but sometimes life is difficult! Now I attend a Baptist church and the pastor frequently shares how he hit rock bottom some years ago and all he could pray was "Jesus I love You, thank You for getting me out of this someday". It's 100% possible to be both joyous in your heart of hearts over Jesus and His salvation - and being curled up in a ball screaming in agony because you just received the phone call you never wanted. God can handle us being happy, and being angry.

This video reminds me of the day my cat died this year. When me and my mom got back to her house, we just sat on the couch in silence, I had so many thoughts running through my mind, but the scariest one was that the only way to end this pain was for me to die myself but I knew that that wasn't going to be an option. So I just kept praying to God because he knew my pain, and he is the only one I can go to when I feel like that. Then, with time, he healed my broken heart. Just typing this out and thinking of that thought made me realize how bad and scary that thought is. I was in so much pain that it didn't even occur to me how scary it was. Just know that God understands your pain and wants to comfort you in that time of pain. He is with you always!

I 100% agree about the sentiment you mentioned here at 6:33 potentially being dangerous. I know someone that has undergone so many hardships and often times this person spends so much time just ruminating over what was the "meaning" behind their hardships because they so strongly believe that EVERY little difficulty they go through is part of God's plan that they completely lose sight of being present in their own life. Is it possible that some of the things they've been through was planned by God? Yes of course it's possible. But it's also very possible that the majority of the difficulties this individual has been through was the result of just evil people enacting their own free will! In which case this individual is literally wasting nearly entire days trying to find some purpose that isn't there!

Thank you for making this video. I am a recently born again Christian and I struggle with depression and anxiety. The Bible says that god forgives but he leaves us to the consequences of our sin. Unfortunately my mental illness is a consequence of some sins from my past. I don’t think Jesus would tell me to just “be happy”. The Bible says he is close to the broken hearted. It’s up to me to heal and recover from this but toxic positivity doesn’t help me on that journey. As Christian’s, we are called to be compassionate and a light to others and invalidating another’s experience is not a way of doing that. Jesus was a person who sat with and held space for people in all kinds of troubled circumstances. Compassion is at the root of how he interacted with sinners, so shouldn’t Christian’s be the same way?

I'm a newly converted Catholic. But I realized while I did pray; some of those prayers weren't answered or redirected. That's when I realized it is because we lacked the action to move. I admit this was my mistake but when pressure hits some must realize its a God-given gift. If you fail keep on trying; its going to make you sad but later you'll be more confident and happy. Even if your parents are against it; I mean who are they to meddle in your life. At least you know how to stand on your own and let God mold you. Prayers are like dating a girl if you only visualize a relationship with her but don't ask her out whether or not you're rejected nothing is going to happen to you. If she rejects you or if there's a hindrance either find someone else or be persistent and work for it. That's life. Sometimes you may not even realize that the more you leave that "bubble" you're gonna win. This is what Toxic Positive Christianity fails to see. People are so shortsighted now rather than thinking long-term. They vie for something absolute even if the earth is sometimes relative let alone God's will.

I have many gay cousins and family members who are into tarot cards. I'm just grateful that I'm able to look at them with compassion while disagreeing with their worldviews. I get frustrated when Christians attack others with telling people their going to hell. They always think they know everything about everything. Like telling people about Jesus when that's the last thing they want to hear. They just need to chill and let God be the great judge. Your words will never convince people. They will be converted when they have looked into it themeselves.

Not everyone will react the same emotionally. We are not robots with the same program for every encounter. I know people throw parties for people who pass. I've known people to request parties held for their passing. I know people to be sad often with other things, but not often at losses. I've learned that to respond to emotion-you first meet people where they are, and then you encourage them. The meeting them where they are is important, just as much as the encouragement because no matter what we're feeling-that being the only emotion felt forever doesn't sound healthy. Just as being happy all the time would be hard to have, it's the same with sadness. We should encourage, but encourage isn't to dismiss. I feel like it isn't toxic positivity, it's dismissal of emotional validity. I would be a hard time to get out of sadness without encouragement. I've had long periods of sadness turn inti idleness, and lukewarm faith.. Encouragement is good when there isn't a dismissal of emotion. Positivity (not attached to a desired outcome) is good, always. But dismissing emotions is the issue here

Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep - Romans 12:15

God said “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil” (Eph. 4:26-27) He never said “don’t be angry or feel angry”. In anger and embracing dark emotions like sorrow, guilt or shame with God can understand God deeper. Although yes this needs wisdom and discernment but God is above all these emotions. The more you admit and feel your weakness the more you realize your identity in Christ and God’s perspective. And be careful with prosperity gospel or hyper grace gospel.

These next passages are about the Holy Spirit being a separate person from the Father and the Son, and also being God. Matthew 3:16-17 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 15:26-27 But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. John 16:13-15 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. 2 Samuel 23:2-3 (David calling the Spirit God) “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue. 3 The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me: ‘He who rules over men must be just, Ruling in the fear of God. Acts 5:3-4 (Peter calling the Spirit God) But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

Not acknowledging a feeling for what it is equals emotional gaslighting. First comes love, then comes prayer. Everything else is not faith, but religion and can be looked up in the New Testament whenever the Pharisees appear... I imagine people like that passing under the Cross, looking at the suffering Savior and asking for a smile; after all, He is more than saved. Does not sound Christian, does it? Why do it to our sisters and brothers in suffering then if we wouldn't do it to our Savior?

I am really scared bro. I don't know if I am a lukewarm Christian or not. I pray when I need to and talk with God. I read the Bible after 2 days occasionally. I am indifferent, guilty, and slightly passionate.

Caleb do you know anyone who you could stay with for sometime? It may not be safe to stay where you are if people are targeting you. Are you staying with family or alone? Also if you want to, it’s good to report what is happening to the authorities. I pray that the blood of Jesus is covering you, from head to toe. May the armour of God be upon you and may his angels protect you in your coming out and going in.

@@Thesilentvoice... hi, thankfully i'm still here So let me tell you whats happening: About 2 weeks have past since my cousin died, he was kidnapped, hopefully not but we think they tortured him, and then when we paid a ransom they killed him The funeral which was supposed to be private was leaked online and it was held behind our house They found 2 of the kidnappers, and are looking for the rest, but the problem is, now they know where we live, as about 2 nights ago they fired off gunshots right outside i think as a warning to us to stop pursuing them Today high ranking police are scouring the area, i'll let you know that we live on an island but we are probably the most developed out of the entire Caribbean, so our technology is really good and advanced, we have a home secjrity system i can tap into 24/7 and motion detection, i get notifications on my phone when people or animals move infront of our cameras We also have dogs, like 2 dogs that will attack anyone if they get inside. Now i have made about 3 hiding places in the house and around in case. I try to wake at night so someone is always up and alert. I am a lot more comfy now than yesterday, and i hope what the police said was true. They said that our neighbourhood is just one of many experiencing the shots i heard at night, its apparently happening everywhere. I am comforted that these particular police who checked with us arent like nornal police, i dont know what department exactly they are in but they wear suits, not costumes, they are also efficient and serious, and move fast, like ghosts, one minute they were here, the next, not. I have my grandmother i can go to, i live with my parents, i have always lived here and as i have just described, it is pretty safe. I am reading the Bible way more and have gotten a lot of comfort from God. Though i still struggle to really believe that he walked on earth 2000 years ago. I am a lot better now, i feel a lot better. This is still a life threatening situation, but i feel more... at peace I am a game developer trying my best to finish a game so i can make some moeny, money enough to leave here eith my family, even if it means starting over, just in a safer country. Its funny, i used to care so much about nonsense before all this, but now in the middle of it, i see, all i care about is God, my family and myself. I just want them to be safe and happy. I have also learnt to stop wanting and to do the wilk of God in my life more than my own. Thank you for expressing your concern, and sorry for typing this long, i failed to inform you that i also dont really have anyone to talk to except my parents, my dogs and God. And this is kinda all of my thoughts. My life is in God's hands still, it always was, it always will be, and now i am less scared of both death and the future, i believe i will make it out of here.

Luke Chapter: 19 19:41 And as He drew near, seeing the city, He wept over it, 19:42 saying, If you had known, even you, even at least in this day of yours, the things for your peace! But now they were hidden from your eyes. 19:43 For the days will come on you, and your enemies will raise up a rampart to you and will surround you and will keep you in on every side, 19:44 and will tear you down, and your children in you, and will not leave a stone on a stone, because you did not know the time of your visitation. John Chapter: 11 1:16 Then Thomas, he having been called Twin, said to the fellow disciples, Let us go, even we, that we may die with Him. Genesis Chapter: 37 37:33 And he knew it, and said, My son's tunic! An evil beast has eaten him. Surely Joseph is torn in pieces. 37:34 And Jacob tore his clothing and put sackcloth on his loins. And he mourned many days for his son. 37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him. And he refused to be comforted, and said, I will go down to Sheol mourning for my son. And his father wept for him.
